CINNABAR ISLAND
CINNABAR VOLCANO

Nathan, Mew, and Magmar are looking at something on the TCG 2000.

Nathan: Oh, Hello! You're just in time for our next card strategy!
Mew: This one's about non other than....
Magmar: ME!
Nathan: Yes. Today we are going to talk about Blaine's Magmar. Come, look at the screen.
The TCG 2000 screen shows a 3-D image of the card

Name: Blaine's Magmar
Rarity: Uncommon
HP:60
Attacks:
R Fire Breathing    10+
Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10 damage plus 10 more damage. If tails, this attack does 10 damage.

RRR Lava Burst    20x
Discard the top 5 cards of your deck.(  If there are fewer than 5 cards in your deck, discard all of them)
This attack does 20 damage for each R energy you discard in this way.
Weakness: W
Retreat: CC

Nathan: Hmm.... not a bad card. Fire Breathing can be used to get around pesky Mr. Mimes. (Very common in tourneys near me)
Magmar: Lava Burst is where I really shine!
Nathan: Yes, I see that. Very useful indeed.
Mew: I get it! Imagine a deck with 4 Blaine's Magmar, 52 Fire Energy, and 4 Energy Retrieval.
Nathan: Right! When you place the Blaine's Magmar, power it up and then use nothing but Lava Burst. Almost every card you discard will be a Fire Energy, and if you have a few Energy Retrievals, you can prevent the unlikely, but still possible, chance of decking yourself. That would probably happen only in decks with Charizard and Chansey types with loads of HP.
Magmar: Unfortunately, with 60 HP and a retreat cost of two, I won't fare too well against a water deck.
Mew: DUH!
Magmar: I might even not get a chance to power up, so you might want to throw in a few Revives, or have backup on the bench.
Mew: Or, just not play against a Water Deck.
Magmar: That might work.
Nathan: Okay, so. Now that we've settled the discussion of Blaine's Magmar,
Nathan, Mew, and Magmar: See Ya!

P.S. I might get hate mail for saying this, and I hope this is still posted, but this is a pretty obvious strategy, and I wonder why no one posted it, even with the Japanese Version.
