I found another card that looks worthless, but actually has some use (aside
from trading for something good). Here it is:
Charity
Trainer
Attach Charity to your Active Pokémon. Unless that Pokémon gets knocked
out,
return Charity to your hand at the end of your turn. If that Pokémon
attacks
and does damage to the Defending Pokémon, you may reduce that Damage by any
amount (rounded to the nearest 10).
Some thoughts after pulling this from a booster pack:
"This thing is worthless! Why on earth would I want to REDUCE damage
my
Pokémon do? I want a refund! Why couldn't I have gotten for my
rare, or
something useful? I want a refund!"
There is potential for this card. The only deck it's worth using against
is
a Mr. Mime deck. You can send out your big hitter (preferably one with a
psychic resistance), and reduce damage until you can get past Mr. Mime's
Invisible Wall.
The Disadvantages:
Mr. Mime decks, which once ruled, now have become much less feared. Almost
every deck carries Mime protection by using Pokémon such as Lapras
(Raindance) and Fossil Magmar (Fire decks). What advantages does Charity
have over some of the best starting Pokémon in the game? It only has one
special feature -- reusability. It isn't discarded, but returned to the hand
to use over and over again. Another problem is the lack of Mime decks. In
most areas, people have realized that decks have Pokémon capable of defeating
a Mime.
All in all, this card isn't worth it. Decks need good
starting Pokémon,
which also double as Mime killers. More often than not, it'll end up being
discarded for a Computer Search or an Item Finder. The best strategy is to
explain to someone how great a Mime killer it is, and then trade it for
something useful.
