Hey everyone this is ChrisO with yet another bash. Here you go...
Lately I have taken a lot of heat from people angry that Scyther and
Electabuzz are not on my Top 10 list;this article should explain why.
Haymakers although they are annoying will be bouncing off the walls when
they open their boosters and find new versions of old haymakers.I will
compare them with their old counterparts to see which is the better.
Scyther Vs. Rocket's Scyther;
Scyther;a basic Pokemon with 70 HP,no retreat cost and a 30 base attack for
3 colorless energy.
Rocket's Scyther;a basic with 60 HP,1 retreat cost and 40 base attack for 2
colorless energy and one grass.
In a battle between the two,Rocket's Scyther would probably win because of
it's Shadow Images attack.If we let them attack each other without Shadow
Images or Sword Dance,they'd kill each other;both can defeat each other in 2
shots.
Ok this is a fair comparison, but it is lacking one thing that just about the
whole article is missing...The thing that make haymaker pokemon how good they
are is high Hp and low energy attacks. Rockets Scyther cant do 60 on the
second turn (without pluspowers). Sure Shadow images is good but if it
dosent work than rocket scyther would be gone because most good players can
get a turn 2 fully powered scyther. On to the next one.....
Hitmonchan Vs. Rocket's Hitmonchan;
Hitmonchan;basic with 70 HP with 2 retreat cost a 20 damage attack with a
later 40 damage shot.
Rocket's Hitmonchan;basic with 60 HP and 1 retreat cost.It has a tricky
attack and then a Gyarados and Kadabra style attack for 50 damage with 3
energies.
Rocket's Hitmonchan's tricky cross-counter would win him the match or tie
it.Hitmonchan just using jab would get double the damage back.So once
again,Rocket wins.
Ok this one isnt bad because i also think that rocket hitmonchan is better so
ill just move on to the next one....
Electabuzz Vs. Lt. Surge's Electabuzz 1 Vs. Lt. Surge's Electabuzz 2;
Electabuzz;basic with 70 HP and 2 retreat.Nice attacks and cheap too.
Lt. Surge's Electabuzz 1;60 HP with 2 retreat cost.a weak attack but nice
charge effect.The weakest Electabuzz.
Lt. Surge's Electabuzz 2;a basic boy with 70 HP 2 retreat a fun charging
effect that leads to a 90 damage shot on the 2nd turn.
Lt. Surge's Electabuzz 2 is the supreme capable of whacking all the other's
on turn 2.Only a really lucky Electabuzz with Thundershock MIGHT beat it.
So all in all,the Gym Heroes Pokemon beat out the originals and should be
the new wave of Haymakers;defeating it's ancestor.
Ok yes i like charge and i plan to use or at least playtest this card for
some time but coin flips just arent reliable and if you flip 0-1 heads you
still discard all the energy and start from scratch. Not quite the
reliability i would look for in a haymaker pokemon.
