Hi! The following list is MY OPINION of the best and worst Poke`Mon, Trainers, and Poke`Mon Powers you could play in a tournament. I'm new to tournaments, so I might not be right, depending on what decks are popular.

I think that the following are the best Poke`Mon:

1. Fearow-His HP isn't the best, but he has a heavy attack(Drill Peck), although it is expensive. His Agility can prevent damage, and can inflict it as well. He has a zero Retreat Cost, resistance to Hitmonchan, immunity to Aerodactyl's attack(but not Prehistoric Power), and his Basic isn't too bad. For anyone who doesn't know, here are the stats:

Name: Fearow
Stage: Stage 1, from Spearow
HP: 70
1st Attack: CCC Agility 20
Flip a coin. If heads, during your opponent's next turn, prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Fearow.
2nd Attack: CCCC Drill Peck 40
Weakness: L
Resistance: F
Retreat Cost: None

As you can see, he's pretty good. The problems are:
1: Weakness. Electabuzz is popular, and he destroys Fearow.
2: Attack Cost. There are so many Poke'Mon that can K.O. hi, in 1 hit.
3: Evolution. Aerodactyl is so popular, and Prehistoric Power can really hurt Fearow unless you can K.O. Fossil
before it evolves or, if it's to late, fight off Aerodactyl with Muk.

All in all, on a scale of 1 to 10, Fearow deserves a 7.5.

2. Base set Magmar

First, here's the stats:

Name: Magmar
Stage: Basic Poke'mon
HP: 50
1st Attack: RR Fire Punch 30
2nd Attack: RRC Flamethrower 50
Discard 1 R Energy attached to Magmar in order to use this attack.
Weakness:W
Resistance:None
Retreat Cost: CC

Nasty Attacks for a Basic. He may have lower HP and higher Retreat Cost than Fossil Magmar, but better attacks. Here are the bad points:

1: Retreat. You REALLY don't want to waste 2 Energy, but Switch and Dodrio can help.
2: HP. 50's not bad, but most decks try to do 40 or more Damage.
3: Rain Dance. A popular deck that is full of Water Poke'Mon poses a problem.

Rating: 6

3. Scyther

Name Scyther
Stage: Basic Poke'Mon
HP: 70
1st Attack: G Swords Dance
During your next turn, Scyther's Slash Attack's base damage is 60 instead of 30.
2nd Attack: CCC Slash 30
Weakness: R
Resistance: F
Retreat Cost: None

Amazing! Lays down 60 Damage on his 2nd turn! Free Retreat is good. Fighting Resistance is nice. K.O.'ing Aerodactyl in one hit is GREAT! He WON'T fit in all decks, and I, for one, am SICK of people who say he will! Good, but, as all Poke`Mon, has several flaws:

1: Weakness. Fossil Magmar  is EXTREMELY popular and RIPS a Scyther-based deck apart.
2: Swords Dance. I know people don't want to hear this, but Wigglytuff and Alakazam can disable him if Slash fails.

Rating: 9

4. Chansey

Name: Chansey
Stage: Basic Poke'Mon
HP: 120
1st Attack: C Scrunch
Flip a coin. If heads, during your opponents next turn, prevent all affects of attacks done to Chansey.
2nd Attack: CCCC Double-edge 80
Chansey does 80 Damage to itself.
Weakness: F
Resistance: P
Retreat Cost: C

Not so great. Nice Retreat, but Scrunch has a 50% of wasting a turn. Double-edge HURTS you. Good stall, HIGH Attack Cost, low Retreat, self-destructive attack=PERFECT stall deck, bad elsewhere. Major flaws are:

1: Weakness! 'Chan, 'Dactyl, 'Lee, & 'Tops are popular.
2. SELF-DEFEATING!!!!! Double-edge, unless comboed with Super Potion and DCE, is useful once...and maybe never again.

Rating: 7.5

5. Dark Vileplume

Name: Dark Vileplume
Stage: Stage 2, from Dark Gloom
HP: 60
Poke'Mon Power: Hay Fever
No Trainer cards can be played. This Power stops working when Dark Vileplume is Asleep, Confused, Poisoned, or Paralyzed.
Attack: GGG Petal Whirlwind 30x
Flip 3 coins. This Attack does 30 Damage times the number of heads. If you get 2 or more heads, Dark Vileplume is now Confused(after doing damage).
Weakness: (holo) R (non-holo) F
Resistance: none
Retreat Cost: CC

OOH! AAH! Hay Fever shuts down MOST Rain Dance decks that use Breeder instead of Wartortle, but Petal Whirlwind is a double-edged sword. Although it MIGHT deal 90 Damage, it'll Confuse itself, disabling Hay Fever and allowing Rain Dance to function. HP bad, interesting Weakness misprint, but one of the better Dark Poke'Mon
anyway. Try it in a Grass Deck and see what happens. Not as good as the original. Major flaws:

1: Weakness! Both Weaknesses are popular colors!!!!
2: Petal Whirlwind!!!! If you go for a big hit, you'll Confuse yourself and disable Hay Fever.
3: LOW HP!!!! All Dark Poke`Mon have AWFUL HP!!! Was WotC ASLEEP when they made these cards?

6. Onix

Name: Onix
Stage: Basic Poke`mon
HP: 90
1st Attack: F Rock Throw 10
2nd Attack: FF Harden
During your opponent's next turn, if 30 or less Damage is done to Onix (after applying weakness and resistance), prevent that Damage (any other  effects of Attacks still happen).
Weakness: G
Resistance: none
Retreat Cost: CCC

HP HIGH. Rock Throw BAD. Harden OK. Retreat Cost HIGH. NICE stall, and as for flaws:

1: Weak to Scyther.
2: HIGH Retreat Cost.

Rating: 5.5

7. Blastoise

Most of you know he should be crowned KING of Water Poke`Mon. Many of you know his stats:

Blastoise
Stage 2, from Wartortle
100 HP
Poke'Mon Power: Rain Dance
As often as you like during your turn(before your Attack), you may attach more than one W Energy to your W Poke'Mon. This Power stops working when Blastoise is Asleep, Confused, Poisoned, or Paralyzed.
WWW Hydro Pump 40+
This Attack does 40 Damage plus 10 more Damage for each W Energy attached to Blastoise but not used to pay for this Attack's Cost. You cannot add more than 20 Damage this way.

AWESOME!!!!!!!! Rain Dance is COOL! Use it to Hydro Pump for 60 Damage on turn 2 or 3! Most Rain Dance players Breeder to Blastoise on turn 2, but MewAerodactyl, and Dark Vileplume might change that. Put Recall to use Withdraw and turn Blastoise into a heck of a stall! Here are the flaws:

1. DARN HIGH RETREAT COST!!!!
2. DANG POPULAR ELECTABUZZ!!!!!

Rating: 8

8. Electabuzz

Most of you know his stats:

Electabuzz
Basic Poke'Mon
70 HP
l Thunderpunch 10
Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Poke'Mon is now Paralyzed.
LC Thunderpunch 30+
Flip a coin. If heads, this Attack does 30 Damage plus 10 more Damage. If tails, this Attack does 30 Damage and Electabuzz does 10 Damage to itself.

Not bad, but he DOES NOT belong in all decks, but many people say he does. He's good, especially in anti-Rain Dance. He s slightly flawed:

1: HIGH RETREAT!!!
2: Mumble mumble coins mumble
3: HITMONCHAN, AERODACTYL, AND HITMONLEE!!!
Rating: 8
9. Hitmonchan

Hitmonchan
Basic Poke`Mon
70 HP
F Jab 20
FFC Special Punch 40
P
none

COOL!! NO COIN FLIPS HERE!! Nice Energy efficiency and strong Attacks! WONDERFUL HP! By the way, I apoligize for dropping labels on the stats, but I think that by number 7, you should catch on to the pattern. Now back to 'Chan! PERFECT in Fighting decks, even with his slight flaws:

1: Decks with Resistance to Fighting. Enough said.
2: 'Chan is BAD against Psychic, which is popular.

10. Charizard

I know that the latest style is to hate Charizard, but remember that this is MY opinon, NOT, I repeat, NOT YOURS!! YOU WANNA SHARE YOUR OPINION, SEND IN YOUR OWN ARTICLE, FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD! I THINK
CHARIZARD IS KING OF FIRE AND THIS IS MY ARTICLE NOT YOURS! Excuse the outburst, and here's the stats:

Charizard
120 HP
Stage 2, from Charmeleon
Poke'Mon Power:Energy Burn
As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may treat all Energy cards attached to Charizard as R Energy for the rest of the turn. This Power stops working when Charizard is Asleep, Confused, Poisoned or Paralyzed.
RRRR Fire Spin 100
Discard 2 R energy attached to Charizard in order to use this Attack.

You might look at Charizard and say, "The Attack and Retreat cost too much! who'd wanna play THIS?" Ah, my friend, take a closer look. He can charge up FAST! Here's a best-case scenario game: You play Charmander and have a Breeder and 3 DCE's in your hand. To back Charmander, you have a Benched Pikachu and Growlithe. Attach a DCE to Charmander and Scratch your opponent's Bellsprout. your opponent draws and Breeders to Victreebell. You draw Charizard, put a DCE on Charmander and Breeder. Energy Burn the DCE's and Fire Spin. Your opponent has no bench and you win the game! Charizard can K.O. all but Chansey in 1 hit. Combo with PlusPower for an unbeatable Poke`Mon
