Hey Pojo~
Hi, it's Steph again, and this time, I will be discussing Chansey and
different strategies that can go with it.
Well, I just noticed it's been a while since I've last posted something
(6/5), so I thought I'd talk about Chansey for a while. I, myself, run a
haymaker consisting of 4 Fossil Magmar (to take out those Scythers), 4
Scythers (I gotta have them too), 4 Electabuzz (great speed), and 2 Chansey;
also with a few Nightly Garbage Run, Scoop Up and a variety of other cards.
I've heard from so many people that Chansey isn't a haymaker Pokemon, and
Lickitung is a better alternative. I, personally, use Chansey for many
reasons. One, there's a higher HP factor involved (Lickitung's 90 to
Chansey's 120). In a lot of situations, this can mean staying out active
longer, and lasting your opponent more turns to knock out. Second, there's
the lower retreat cost--Lickitung's 3 to Chansey's 1. This can definitely
help when Chansey's damaged with few HP left, and simply takes the attachment
of one energy to retreat. With weakness and resistance being the same (which,
the resistance of both is good, with all the psychic around), next are the
attacks. Lickitung has a 1 colorless Tongue Wrap for 10 damage, with a 50%
chance of paralysis. Also, there's the 2 colorless attack Supersonic with a
50% chance of confusion. These are both good stalling attacks; each can do a
status effect. Chansey has the 2 colorless Scrunch, with a 50% chance of
preventing your opponent from attacking next turn, and the 4 colorless Double
Edge, which does 80 damage to the Defending Pokemon, and 80 to Chansey. While
both these attacks aren't that great, Double Edge has its usefulness in
situations. I usually only use it when the Defending Pokemon is a powerful 70
HP (or close to it) basic, and I have a Scoop Up or something in my hand.
Chansey, with Scoop Ups and Energy Retrieval/Nightly Garbage Run (sometimes),
is a very powerful combination that can deal lots of damage. True, NGR and E.
Ret. can't get back Double Colorless for Chansey, but are good cards
nevertheless.
Well, that's about it for me on Chansey. Thanks for reading my article!
