Pokemon History:Base

I am going to start doing reports on the history of pokemon by reviewing every set. Lets start from the beginning . Base

top 5 base cards
1.Electabuzz
2.Blastoise
3.Hitmonchan
4.Chansey
5.Alakazam

When base set first came out, nobody had an idea on hpow to make a good deck(including me). Wed have decks with 8-10 trainers,30 energy! Charizard would be considered a good card with its ability to knock out any pokemon with Fire Spin other than Chansey and itself. We didnt know crap! But I think Id rather have this than what pokemon is today. Wed use are own ideas and not copy internet decks like many people do.
Well. We did start getting better at pokemon and found out that evolution is to slow , fast and strong basics are the key. The two leaders are Buzz and Chan. Here is my system
Buzz beats Blastoise
Chan beats Buzz
Farfetchd beats Chan
Buzz beats Farfetchd
Blastoise beats Hitmonchan
Haymaker was the strongest deck. With Buzz, who has a 50/50 chance of doing 40 for 2 energy, and Chan becasue he can do 20 for1 and 40 for 3. Farfetchd was also a haypokemon because of his ability to possibly do 30 for 1 and 30 with 2 gauranteed(DcE). Many people played 4Chan, Buzz, 4Farfetchd decks. And they were pretty good. People also found out that even with 4Oak/4Bill, they wouldnt stall since theyd be doing 20-40 damage per turn.Heres the deal, lets say you Oak twice and Bill 3times in 5turns.=25 cards drawn. 22 cards left in the deck. You now have 22 turns to  kill 6pokemon. Assuming the opponent has 6pokemon and that youll Oak that much.
But Haymaker wasnt the only archetype around. A deck called Raindance was born. Raindance could do 60 damage on Turn2 with Blastoise. Get Squirtle, Breeder on turn2, and RainDance like crazy and HydroPump. Many had Pluspowers to kill the 70HP Hay Pokemon Buzz and Chan. These decks also had Chansey to buy time if Blastoise was taking too long. Some of these decks ran Gyrados who could do 50  for 3 energy but also ran the risk of playing Magikarp who could get killed by Buzz in one hit(with Pluspower). Raindance was also a strong deck. Its only weakness, Buzz who could do 80 with Thunderpuch for 2energy. But this could be overcome.
The final deck that was a decent archetype was the weakest. Alakazam/Chansey. Its goal, to get Alakazam out and Chansey ready to attack. Double-Edge with Chansey taking 80 and most likely killing the defender. Then, the next turn Damage-Swap the counters to a energyyless, benched Chansey and Pokemon Center getting rid of all the damage while maintaining all of your energy. However, this deck had a huge weakness. Hitmonchan which could really hurt Chansey and Alakazam could be gusted and killed in 2-3 turns slowing down the engine completly. This deck saw little play but was pretty good.
Those are the main decks. There was also Venu/Chansey were you would Double-Edge with Chansey then Energy Transe the energy to a benched pokemon. Then pokecenter getting rid of all the damage Chansey does to himself. Then Energy Transe the energy back to Chansey and Double'-Edge again. In my opinion, this deck was stronger than Alakazam/Chansey because Venusaur could attack as wel. Many of these decks are non-existant today. Haymaker is still alive and running but doesnt include Buzz and Chan as much. If any, Buzz. seena@netmost.com
