A good deck is a fun deck. I agree with those like Nite Owl in that
Archetypes are all anyone uses anymore. We need to be more creative! In order to
make a good non-Archetype deck, you have to think. I know that is hard for some
of you, but I can give some general tips on deck making.
¤Choose a theme or center card for a deck. Like: I want a poisoning deck,
or I want to use Neo3 Houndoom.
¤Decide any strategies or synergies you can use in your deck. Like: I will
use Rocket's Training gym in my poison deck so they can't retreat, or I will use
Porygon 2 with Houndoom to add more Dark so his Black Fang does more
damage.
¤Decide any other supporting cards for the theme or strategy. Like: I will
use Dark Muk to aid in retreat slowing, or I will use Rare Houndour because it
can get fire attached to Houndoom.
¤Add trainers that somewhat help your strategy, and other pokémon that can
benifit for your deck. Like: I will use energy Removal to make sure they NEVER
retreat, or I will use sneasel and Murkrow because Pory2 can give them Dark type
energy.
¤Make sure to add the staple cards like Bill, Oak, Gust, Plus Power, Comp.
Search, and Item Finder
I hope this can help you make non-Archetype decks. E-mail me if you have
feedback or want deck fixes at James_Gundam@Hotmail.com. Thx 4 ur time
