Pokemon, a children show, on Kids WB. Who would have thought that a "kiddy" show would make such a impact on the world as itself. We see people in our newspapers talking about banning pokemon, we watch people on tv burning pokemon cards, even the people in foreign countries are calling pokemon a "devil game" and a monopoly stealing all the money our parents make so we can just buy more cards. I bet nobody ever thinks back to the past trends, like Power Ranger, and Transformers. What could be turning people to think a yellow rabbit could teach kids to kill? Yes it does cost money, so do alot things in the world today. Prices are rising everyday with most of everything. Look at X-Box, the newest game system, it sales at a whopping price of $300. Now when i was growing up, if it was new it would cost around 100 dollars, and even that was alot back then. Now-a-days not many people really sit down and look at the good things about pokemon. Your asking, "What could be so good about a trend?", and that is what many people ask thereselves. Well first of all it teaches alot of future life problem solving techniques. Right now i am a Junior in Geometry and i excel at everything he hands out. One reason is that pokemon teaches you to ask the most powerful question ever, "What do i see". Now when you are in a situation that needs a answer, you can refer back to pokemon, and ask you that question. When you analyse the surroundings you are on to the second step of a problem solving technique, asking youself "what if...". What if i layed a steel on my arcanine and attacked for 80? What if i retreated my cleffa and brung out a scyther and attacked for 30? Most people like to plan for their future and using pokemon they can. I bet most people are thinking im crazy or something but wait until high school and you will see. Pokemon also teaches you to count, even the for the hardest addition problems, you can convert them into a pokemon problem. Ok i have a arcanine that will do 50 damage and what if i add 3 steel, how much damage will he do? In my opinion, pokemon does nothing but teach, to problem solve, to add/subtract for toddlers and many other things. I would like to conclude with this one statement,
" Pokemon is neither a game, tcg or a show, it is a lifestyle. Live by it and it like many things it will teach you and allow you to grow upon the things you know about already." ~ Matthew R.
