First off, I'd like to thank Don Taylor and Souper for backing me up on my
article. Apparently great minds think alike. Next, my two cents on the point
system. People, the point system is worthless. It only works when you consider
all things being equal, and when, exactly, are all things ever equal in the
pokemon card game? Never! Plus, like Don says, the playing field is constantly
changing. For example, Lapras VS Scyther. According to the point system,
Scyther wins. But which would you rather have when playing a Raindance or when
Magmar is commonly played? Charizard and Ninetales? Better, since you're
comparing two of the same type, but you're comparing a stage two with a stage
1, something that can't be done. Once, I believe the Pojo said you couldn't
compare two pokemon of different types. STICK TO THAT RULE! Kangaskan VS
Lickitung? It works, but Kanga's an attacker. Lickitung was made to stall.
They are made for two different purposes! Oh, and the Fossil Haunter VS Basic
Haunter? No comment. Another thing that's worthless is saying cards are
terrible because they are rare/holo/common. Electabuzz is a great card. Basic
Zapdos is not a great card. Got it? Good. Who ever started that should be
ashamed of him/herself.
Plus, like Don says, Trainer cards are there for a reason! If that card has a
weakness, find out its Achilles Heel (sp?) and use trainer cards to make up
for it. It's not that hard! And try not to compare cards until you've actually
played the cards and know what you're talking about. My method of comparing
cards is based on how well it would: A. Help my deck B. Do on its own
C. Do situationally and D. how dependant it is on other cards. This is
also apparently the method specified in Brian Brokaw's books, and trust me it
works.
I
will now like to issue a challenge to those who think the point system is a
good method of comparing cards. I dare you to respond to this article by
either sending an article to the Pojo, or e-mailing me directly and give at
least one good reason why you think it's good. This ought to be interesting
:-)

PS: I encourage you to read
Don's article "The Point System", Souper's "How Not To Compare
Cards" in Single Card Tips, and my response to Aerodactyl3's article on
Venomoth VS Alakazam. And by the way Don, Shift doesn't change Venomoth's
weakness.
