Heres something no one notices, but is vital to winning decks:
Ever notice how most REALLY successful decks
and archetypes are EXTREMELY trainer heavy? They consist of about 20-26
Trainers, and about 24 Energy. Here's the thing that intrigues me, a guy
with a 4-4 Clefable deck KILLED me. I mean SLAUGHTERED. The thing
was, he played 30 Trainers, 18 Energy, and 12 Pokemon. VERY few pokemon
to back up the Clefable. The thing was, his Clefable was able to
actually use Super Potion Effectively, and he SER'ed without a moment's
hesistation.
The secret was, he used about an average of 2-3 trainers PER
turn if he didn't kill any pokémon that turn. Now, getting to my
point.....
Heres the Way most decks should go trainers wise:
No Evolution Deck
12 Pokemon
20-24 Energy ( Can be slimmed according to Pokémon's energy
costs )
24-28 Trainers
ONE Stage One Evolution
12-14 Pokemon ( slimmed according to how effect the complements
of the Stage one is, the core of the deck )
19-23 Energy ( slimmed according to energy costs )
23-29 Trainers ( Can be enlarged )
A Stage 2 Deck
4-3-2 Evolution Pyramid, One 4-3 Evolution, One 3-2 Evolution
with 3 Basic Pokemon, or 8 Basic Pokemon
20-24 Energy ( slimmed according to the Stage 2's energy needs
)
20-28 Trainers
Remember, I don't like putting a limit on trainer count, so put
as many as ya want ;)
Here's the Standard Deck Count
13 Pokemon
24 Energy
23 Trainers
Here's the expert's Deck Count ( By the way, the only
difference between a newbie and a expert is knowing how to use the cards, and
knowing how to organize their deck choices )
10-14 Pokemon
17-22 Energy ( Clefable decks...LOL )
24-30 Trainers ( sky's the limit : )
