Everyone! Listen up! I think I found a way to eradicate the flow of
archetypes, or at least make your deck archetype-proof! Archetype users, you
can stop reading now. The method I have found to crush archetypes is...
brace yourself...


Archetypes! No. No! NO! Get back here! OK, the idea is you make the
archetypes yourself. Yes, physically! And if you don't want to shell out
$60+ for 4 hitmonchans or blastoises or whatever, don't worry. There are
plenty of substitutes (read my January 00 article in Pojo's Strategy
section. It's under "Haymaker"). OK, find out the archetypes around right
then. I'll use the 2 most famous, Hay and Raindance, as examples. Make your
Hay and Raindance. Then take your current deck or best or whatever and play
it against these decks. Over and over. It even helps if you play it yourself
occasionally against a friend or something to get a feel of how they work.
NOTE: all of this should be in the privacy of your own home (or a friend's
home). No testing this at tourneys or anything yet. You will learn exactly
how they work and how to modify your deck and your strategy to beat them!
Another VERY IMPORTANT PART: Be sure you test your deck you are
archetype-proofing against other decks, like your friend's standard
evolution or status change or just standard deck or something. Otherwise you
just become an Anti-Hay or whatever and any other deck will crush you.Make
these changes and (it worked for me) you will have a totally killa' deck! I
think if enough peopple employ this strategy everyone will realize it and
what happens? Uh oh! Your Haymaker is not invincible anymore! Back to the
drawing board...
