Hey Pojo! Please post this in the Tournament Philosophies section. This is
Ivan here with some deck building strategies. First things first, NO SINGLES!
They are so unreliable. Lets start with the Pokemon.
-------------------------------------------------
First have a good basic. There is one good basic for all the types.
Fire: Fossil Magmar
Grass/Colorless: Scyther
Water: Lapras
Electric: Electabuzz
Fighting Hitmonchan
Psychic: Movie Mewtwo/Jynx
Put at least 2 in your deck of the color(s) you like. Then continue with
other basics and evolutions. Decide on a strategy. Some are raindance,
hay(GAYmaker!)maker(I hate this deck, ugh....), Pot(GAYpourri! =D)pourri(i
hate this deck even more! No offense Scott =D), Aero-Mew, Wigglytuff, Moltres
Stall, Stall, Energy trans, damage swap and curse. E-mail me if you don't
know what a type is and need to know the strategy. Some good pokemon for
these types other than the ones i named above are:
Fire:
Charizard line(Don't argue with me =P)
Ninetails line
Arcanine line
Moltres(for moltres stall)
Water:
Blastoise line(Raindance! ^_^)
Articuno
Dewgong line
Poliwrath line
Grass:
Venusaur line(energy trans)
Beedrill line
Muk line
Psychic:
Mr. Mime
Alakazam line
Gengar line
Fighting:
Hitmonlee
Machamp line with Breeder
Dugtrio line
Aerodactyl line
Golem line(with switches)
Colorless:
Wigglytuff line
Chansey(THE ULTIMATE STALLER! ^_^)
Rattata(Believe it or not i actually think he's good! =P)
Dragonair line(Not Dragonite)
Lickitung
Electric:
Base Electrode with Rocket Voltorb
Base Zapdos(Great staller)
You should use about 15-20 of these pokemon with around 10 basics. Now for
trainers.
-------------------------------------------------
Don't use coin flipping trainers or "chance" trainers (ie. Gambler,
Pokeball,
etc.) or particularly SORRY trainers like Lass(Again, i hate potpourri),
Revive, and Clefairy Doll. Put in the essential ones. Here is a list of the
good and essential trainers. Next to them are the nicknames i use to shorten
them.
Bill
Professor Oak(Oak)
Energy Removal(ER)
Super Energy Removal(SER)
Computer Search(Comp Search)
Itemfinder
Pokemon Breeder(Breeder)
Pokemon Trader(Trader)
Pokemon Center(NOT A NICK for stall and every trans)
Energy Search
Gust of Wind(GOW)
Pluspower
Energy Retrieval(ERT)
Scoop Up(NOT A NICK for GAYmakers)
Mr. Fuji(Fuji)(NOT A NICK Great for stall decks)
I would use 4 bills, 2 oaks, 4-2 4-3 or 4-4 ER and SER. Tehn pick out from
the "good" list ones that fit your strategy. You should have about
18-20
trainers leaving about 20-24 for energies.
-------------------------------------------------
When considering energy, think carefully about each type:
Fire: You should have alot of spare energies with ERT because of discarding
costs.
Water: Have more than usually energies if you have pokemon with a "water
gun"
type attack.
Grass: Most attacks are very expensive and cause status effects. Have a
couple extra.
Electric: You don't need much electric energies because their attacks hurt
themselves instead of taking up lots of energies.
Fighting: Ah... the most resisted type in the game..... But they are heavy
hitters. Not alot of energies needed so you don't need alot of fighting in
your decks.
Psychic: Not alot needed, not too less either..... a balanced type =D
Colorless: DOUBLE COLORLESS! althought it is annoying when it gets removed...
DCE should be a basic energy!
Here's how to figure out energy requirments. First figure a slot for
energies. Most decks need 20-24. Then add up all energy requirments for the
last attack's energy requirments including colorless. For example, 3 gengars
would equal 9 psychic and 2 electabuzz would equal 4 electric. Then total
9+4=13. Lets say my slot is 20. add one to each until you reach your slow. if
you go over tweak it until it works.
-------------------------------------------------
Voila! You've got a good deck! T prefer raindance as my favorite archetype.
Fighting sux cause of all the resistance. Psy is resisted too! Electric is
resisted but not as much as Psy/Fighting. I would prefer a 2-3 color type
deck excluding fighting. IT JUST SUX. If you want to see my deck go here:

and look
at it! E-mail me comments and suggestions but no junk.
