I'm
going to write strategies on how to use each different
Electabuzz, and which ones aren't even worth playing, I'm going to list them
in order from worst to best.
1. Movie Promo Electabuzz
This card is pretty bad in
itself, especially for a basic
non-evolving pokemon, Light Screen is a mediocre attack, too easy to get
around. Quick Attack is a weak attack at best, this card is a non-evolving
version of the jungle Eevee (notice how similar their attacks are.) Also
bad-points are the lower HP, and 2 retreat cost. This card used to be
somewhat useable in Super-Splash decks, but with the release of Neo, not
anymore.
2. Neo Electabuzz
This card isn't too great, but
at least it's better than the movie
promo one, it's first attack is pretty useful as a splashable attack, but I
personally don't like his second attack, it costs too much for what it does.
But some of it's good points that made it better than the MP Electabuzz are
higher HP and the lower retreat cost, if your thinking about making a 2-type
deck with one of those types as electric, or a Super-Splash deck, you might
want to toss 2 or 3 of this guy in there.
3. Surge's Electabuzz (L.22)
This card is actually pretty
good, Charge is a good way to build up
for his second attack. Electric Current is a pretty good way to spread energy
around and deal damage at the same time. Still it does have some bad points,
only 60 HP and a retreat of 2 but if you're looking for a card that'll help
you charge up Zapdos or Raichu a little faster, you should try using this
card.
4. Surge's Electabuzz (L. 28)
A pretty good card first of all
it has 70 HP which is high for a
basic pokemon. It has the same charge attack as the previous Electabuzz, but
this time, Charge is building up to use Discharge, if used right, this attack
can deal up to 120 damage every two turns, this attack has the potential to
do some major damage. Plus this card isn't very energy intensive at all,
since it pulls energy from the discard pile.
The only bad points about this card are it's 2-retreat cost and that it's
attack requires coin-flips (even though it has the potential to deal major
damage, it still has the chance of doing absolutely nothing.) But still for
some people, this card is a lock in all electric decks.
5. Base Electabuzz
Through all 7 sets released in
America, this card has remained the
best Electabuzz. Thundershock on the first turn for 10 damage, and the chance
for paralysis, and on the second turn Thunderpunch for possibly 40 damage,
and if you attach a Berry to it, you don't even have to worry about the 10
damage from a tails. This card is he most effective Rain-Dance stopper in
existance and is a definite lock in most Haymakers and electric decks, and
retreat cost of 2 is a very small price to pay to use this card, which I
believe is the best overall card in play today.
