What does everyone think the two best energy types are? I believe that
Grass
and Water are the best, and I have valid reasons to back my opinion up.
Reason 1 (in favor of Grass): After the grass-heavy Jungle expansion card
set, no player could possibly be without a large number of Grass energy,
correct? And many new Grass Pokemon were also introduced in the Jungle
set.
Reason 2 (in favor of Grass): Kangaskhan. Good attacks, great
Pokemon
power, plenty of power. The ultimate stalling pokemon.
Reason 3 (in favor of Grass): Muk. His Pokemon Power says it all.
For
those of you who don't have Muk, here is his Pokemon Power:
Toxic Gas: Ignore all Pokemon Powers other than Toxic Gases. This
power
stops working while Muk is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.
Reason 4 (in favor of Water): Plenty of em'. Is it just me, or is
water the
type with the most Pokemon in it out of all the types? There were lots of
water Pokemon in both Base Set, and Fossil Set. Plus, the fact that it has
been in more theme decks as one of the types more than any other type (except
Grass, which it is tied with), makes Water energy painfully easy to obtain.
Blackout: Water and Fighting
Overgrowth: Water and Grass
Water Blast: Water and Fighting
Lock Down: Fire and Water
Reason 5 (in favor of Water): It is the basis for a whole deck type,
Raindance. Usually, Raindance is an all-water deck, perhaps with some
Colorless Pokemon thrown it for stalling or something.
Reason 6 (in favor of Water): Gyrados. This Pokemon has got a lot of
power,
especially considering that it is a Stage 1. It has no-consequence
attacks!
There is no danger of you doing any damage to yourself (unless, of course,
you get confused), and you don't need to discard any energy. Having 100 HP
doesn't hurt either, heh heh heh.
Reason 7 (in favor of both): They are both strong enough to hold their own
in a deck, so you can get away with a deck using only one of those types.
They work well together, too. In fact, I have found decks with those types
to be quite effective. It's all about getting strong attacks ready
quickly,
and they succeed at that, unlike Fire, which fails miserably.
Reason 8 (in favor of both): Strong Basic Pokemon. Look at Scyther,
Lapras,
Articuno, Kangaskhan and Pinsir. All are Basic Pokemon, and all have
usefull
skills and attacks.
So, there! Do you agree or disagree?
