I'm gonna try my hardest not to turn this into a mindless
rant...here goes. Too paraphrase the author of "Why can't people
make creative decks?"...he stated that people can't make a deck other
than a wiggly or hay because it is "too hard". I have to say
that this is totally false. While I, too, wish the playable deck pool
was larger and more varied...I'm not about to compromise my DCI rating {and my
pride : ) } just so I can say I didn't play a haymaker. The problem
isn't that people "can't" make creative decks...it's that they don't
"want" to. I could run into my room and slap together
"The Fury of Goldeen" in a few minutes...how much more creative can
you get? But I guarantee that if I take it to a tourney with ANY even
slightly skilled players...it'll get the living daylights beat out of it.
People play wigglies and hays because THEY WORK. When was the last time
you went into your garage and thought, "You know what? People have
been using the same style of stepladder for hundreds of years. Why can't
people make creative ladders?" BECAUSE THE OLD LADDER WORKS!
Don't fix it if it ain't broken...but considering Pokemon IS broken...it needs
fixing. That's what prop 15 was supposed to do. But that's another
topic altogether (however, if you want my opinion...I think if you limit the
number of Hay pokemon to 4-6 per deck...that fixes a large part of the
problem). Anyway...my point is...it's not that people "can't"
make creative decks...they just use what works. Thanks for reading.
