Though this article was useful, it has
many things I want to comment about. His original comments are in blue,
while mine are in black.
#1. Charizard: The
reason why I like Charizard is that it has Energy Burn. All you need to do
is to put the 4 energies (or 2 DCE) on him to do 100 damage.
The two reasons people don't
use him are 1: Stage 2 Evolution. Simple, just put some Charmander and
Breeders, and 2: He is extremely prone to Energy and S.E.R. Another easy
answer. Just load him up with 10 energies!
Charizard
deserves a 8.5.
What if there's a Benched Muk in play so you
can't use Energy Burn? Breeders would not be a proper solution. What if
there's a Benched Dark Vileplume? Why would anyone load, let alone waste
10 Energies on a Charizard? That doesn't solve anything!! Charizard isn't
used, and for all the right reasons.
#2. Nidoking: Where did
he disappear to? 3 Grass gets 20 Damage + 20 Poison damage after each
player's turn. By your next turn, the Defending Poke'mon has 60 damage on
it! Nidoking gets a 7.5.
The simple solution to this is to use a Full
Heal, and until then, most Poke'mon being played today can shrug this off.
Use Potions and Super Potions if stalling until you get a Full Heal.
#3. Dewgong: The best way
to put it is: Dewgong is an uncommon version of Gyarados, only with 80 HP.
Capabilities are similar to Gyarados.
Dewgong is
receiving a 7.0 from me.
I prefer Gyarados to Dewgong, because Gyarados
is stronger... but Magikarp is VERY weak, so Seel is better in that
respect... Which one is better depends on how you play the Basics to
Dewgong and Gyaraods.
#8. Venomoth:
I love Venomoth. 2 Grass Energy gets a measly 10 damage, but read the fine
print. It also both
Confuses and Poisons! And finally, there's the best part: Resistance
to Fighting. Hitmonchan can only do 10 damage to it with Special Punch!
Venomoth will get an 8.0.
Hmmm... I love Venomoth, too. That Confusion
and Poison really messes up your opponent. Fighting Resistance is
excellent, with free retreat cost and Fire Weakness, same Bottom
Stats as Scyther. I believe that Venomoth should receive a higher
rating, though.
#11. Rhydon: Thank God
it's forgotten! 4 Fighting Energy for only 50 damage, 20 to self !?!?!?!
3.0.
Mentioning a card, saying how bad it is and
not giving a strategy for it when the title of the article clearly
reads:'Forgotten and Overlooked Cards and Useful Strategies
isn't a good idea.
#13. Fossil Haunter: One of
the best defenses against the ever - abundant Hitmonchans. Only 25% chance
of even getting 10 damage in.
(Reistance, Sleeping from
Nightmare, and Transparency) 8.0.
Now, in my opinion, Fossil Haunter is neither
forgotten or overlooked. 50% percent of anything happening to Haunter
successfully with Transparency which makes it a pretty darn good
staller, except with that 50 HP part. Nightmare guaruntees Sleep for one
Psychic and one Colorless, but for only 10 damage. PlusPower seems to
help.
#26. Gambler: Good for getting
big hands, but there is always a risk of getting back only one card.
Substitution for Oak. 8.0.
Most people would prefer using Oak than
Gambler, because you shuffle your hand into your deck, only to get back
one or 8 cards, which, by the way, is only one short of what Oak can do
without a coin flip. Even if Oak isn't available, the substitution is
Bill, in my opinion. Why flip for card - drawing effect whem Professor Oak
and Bill can do the same guarunteed?
In the end, I realized that he missed out bad
points in most of them and tried to cover it up by exaggerating good
points. For example,
#10. Primeape: On Turn #2, it
can do up to 60 damage with for only 2 Fighting Energy! Enough said. 7.5.
Only bad part: Mankey.
Of course, the coin flip wasn't mentioned,
meaning if can also do up to nothing. And what if you don't
attack first?
I hope more people start to consider all
aspects of gameplay.

I will fix your decks to Top
- Class material. Also, I will respond to every email (not the ones
with one or two lines with no signature and bad grammar and spelling, the
ones that actually have meaning). Sorry if you are offended by what I just
said.
