This article was inspired by Wazzup's article and by MANY people who
have posted similar tips regarding advantages of attaching both Metal
Energy and Dark energy to the same pokemon.

First off, Wassup's #1 Pokemon in Neo 2 was Scizor and he wrote:

1.Scizor
Stats:Stage1 Metal
LV.43,HP80
M:Blunt-end Strike:This attack does damage equal to the Defending
Pokemon's
HP divided by 2(rounded down).
CCC:Metal Claw 20+:Flip 2 coins.This attack does 20 damage plus 20
damage
times the number of heads.
Weakness:Fire.Resistance:Grass.Retreat Cost:CC (Holo)

":-O !This card is sooooo broken! With a Darkness Energy, this attack
kills
ANYTHING in 2 hits!It won't take damage because of the Metal Energy from
the
Darkness Energy, and is nearly impossible to KO,because of the Metal
Energy
and it is so fast your opponent maybe, just maybe, will have time to
blink"

Did you catch it?

Ok...here's the deal! Let's look at both cards shall we?

Name:        Metal Energy
Type:        Special Energy Card
Card #:      Card 19/111
Rarity:      Rare - Holo
Text:        Damage done to Pokemon Metal Energy is attached to is
reduced by 10 (after applying Weakness and Resistance).
If the Pokemon Metal Energy is attached to isn't Steel,
whenever it damages a Pokemon, reduce that damage by 10
             (before applying Weakness and Resistance).
Metal Energy provides S Energy. (Doesn't count as a basic
             Energy card.)

Name:        Darkness Energy
Type:        Special Energy Card
Card #:      Card 104/111
Rarity:      Rare
Text:        If the Pokemon Darkness Energy is attached to
damages the Defending Pokemon (after applying
Weakness and Resistance), the attack does 10 more
damage to the Defending Pokemon.  At the end of
every turn, put 1 damage counter on the Pokemon
Darkness Energy is attached to, unless it's D or has
             Dark in its name.
Darkness Energy provides D Energy. (Doesn't count
             as a basic Energy card.)

Now then... Metal energy (when attached) reduces damage done to the
pokemon (which it is attached to) by 10...

BUT

It DOES NOT negate 10 damage that happens as a result on an EFFECT!

Darkness Energy CLEARLY STATES "At the end of every turn, put 1 damage
counter on the Pokemon Darkness Energy is attached to"

I'm pretty sure that this is also the case for POSION and CHAR effects!

Ill rephrase... any damage counters that are added on to a pokemon (with
metal energy attached to it)by an effect (such as Poison, Char and
Darkness Energy) are NOT negated, in any way by Metal Energy.

ADVANTAGE - DARK POKEMON

Infact the only bonus when Metal and Darkness energy are both attached
to the same pokemon is if that Pokemon is D or has Dark in it's name.

In this case... The plus 10 damage and -10 damage added to the attack
would cancel each other out...THUS your D or Dark Pokemon would do
damage equal to it's origional attack BUT the pokemon would not receive
10 damage from Darkness energy (because it is D or Dark) AND would
receive the benefit of taking 10 less damage (from Metal energy)

CONCLUSION

When both Dark Energy AND Metal Energy are attached on the same pokemon,
D or Dark pokemon attack normally, do not take Darkness damage and have
the benefit of a mini defender negating 10 damage.

The same is true for non-D or Dark pokemon EXECPT that they MUST put a
damage counter on EVERY TURN (your's and opponent's).

I hope that clears up things,
