Ahh yes, a Raindance Counter. Not a unique idea, but an idea,
nonetheless.
You have some things right and some things dreadfully wrong. Lets see
where
you went wrong, shall we?
Electabuzz/Electrode: Neither is bad, but Base Electrode's ability to KO
Blastoise in one hit is slightly overrated.
Dk. Vileplume: This family takes up a LOT of space, and there are plenty of
other ways to run trainer-denial. Anyway, if you ARE going to use it, you
better play Breeder, otherwise its low HP becomes a bigger problem than it
already is.
TR Sneak Attack/Lass: Using these with Dk. Vileplume is an oxymoron.
Goop Gas Attack: Using it to counter Raindance is NOT the ideal use of
this
card, particularly because you already play Dk. Vileplume.
Now, lets look at what we're going to change:
Electrode: Raindance is always mono-water, so we're going to make the
Electrodes Jungle (for Chain Lightning)
Vileplume: Cut out this family completely.
Lass/TR Sneak Attack: Drop a few of these, add in some Imposter Oak's
Revenge and 4 Itemfinder. Also, we're going to put in some ER, Oak, Bill,
and PC Search.
Goop Gas Attack: Drop these for a 4-3 Muk (F) family.
Lets toss in a few Scyther (to get rid of the Fighting Weakness). We'll
also
want to put in a few DCE.
Cut down the energy levels, they're really high.
Here's the final product:
Floodgate v1.1
3 Electabuzz
3 TR Voltorb
2 J Electrode
4 Grimer (F)
3 Muk (F)
3 Scyther
2 Oak
3 Bill
3 TR Sneak Attack
2 Lass
2 Imposter Oak's Revenge
4 Itemfinder
2 Computer search
3 Energy Removal
2 Switch
2 Double Colorless Energy
9 Lightning Energy
8 Grass Energy
There's the revised version of Floodgate. Yeah, it looks like a total
overhaul, but what I really did was take your original lockdown ideas (like
trainer denial and Power denial) and put the in a more offensive position.
Jungle Electrode is a better Raindance killer than Base, even though it takes
a little more time to kill Blastoise, and Scyther gives you the ability to
counteract the severe Fighting weakness in Electrode and Electabuzz. Muk
is
a lot better than Goop Gas Attack, and you'll find that the added speed
provided by the Oaks and Bills prevents Raindance from gaining an early
advantage over you. Your energy numbered 29, way too much for ANY deck,
and
hopefully it isn't too low now, I had to make space for a LOT of important
trainers. Itemfinder allows you to get back any trainers you've previously
used, alowing you to have a Lass, TR Sneak Attack, ER, or whatever the moment
you need it.
