How to Play Venucenter
Venucenter is my favorite deck. It's powerful and fun to play. Plus it's now
considered an Archtype. I've been playing my Venucenter deck since Pokemon TCG
first started and I believe I'm it's original inventor...of course theres no way
I can prove that to all of you in Pojo-land. Oh well. Let's take a look at this
amazing deck. First lets see what makes it tick...
Keycards
Bulbasaur- (of course)
Ivysaur- (Pkmn Breeder just doesn't seem as helpful in this kind of deck)
Venusaur- (Energy Trans! The deck's backbone)
Vileplume/Nidoking- (Your main offense. I like Nidoking a bit more but Vileplume
is just as good. He has a decent Pkmn Power too. If Psychic is really popular in
your area then don't go with Nidoking.)
Colorless Pokemon- (To counter Nidoking's weakness. Kangaskhan, Wigglytuff, and
Snorlax work well here.)
Pinsir and/or Scyther- (Big, bad basics. I like Pinsir more for this deck's
strategy...although Scyther helps more earlier on it doesn't add up as well
during the late game.)
Staller- (Get out ASAP to stall until Venusaur is evolved. Chansey is great with
it's 120 HP and low retreat cost. You can use Chansey's Double Edge to take your
last prize later on in the game if you retreat him after you finish stalling. I
like Lickitung, though. Maybe because it's comical or because it's more
energy-friendly...or maybe because it can do damage, although not too much.
Unlike Chansey, Lickitung normally goes down with the ship.)
Oaks and Search cards- (A must! You need to get your evolutions ASAP. Use alot
of these!)
Switch and Pokecenter- (Lets you juggle your Pokemon and heal them when they are
almost gone. The main idea of the deck.)
Now we'll discuss the deck's strategy.
Stall with Lickitung/Chansey early on while searching for evolutions. Venucenter
uses a lower than average amount of energy so only attach a single Plant energy
card to each Pokemon (another reason to favor Lickitung over Chansey). Nobody
wants to play S.E.R. if they can only take a single energy from you. When your
Pokemon are in place, Attack! Move your energy to your first attacker (Hopefully
Pinsir but Kangaskhan, Nidoking, Vileplume, or Snorlax will work fine). Now (if
you want to add this in) Lass away any S.E.R.s and other Trainers your opponent
may fall back on. Don't worry if you lose any Switch or PkmnCenter cards, now is
the time for full offense. Let's say your first attacker is Pinsir (hopefully it
is). Gullitine your way to a prize or two. If Pinsir has taken alot of damage
then retreat him. If Pinsir buys the farm...oh well. Now send out your next
attacker. Keep this up until most of your Pokemon are beat up. Not TOO beat up
though. Don't risk being Gusted into !
!
a rough spot. Now it's time to Pokecenter, using Energy Trans to move all your
energy to an undamaged Pokemon. All your Pokemon are healed for free. Now juggle
Pokemon again (aided by Switch) and Pokecenter again (if you have to). You're on
your way to victory!
The Future of Venucenter...
I think this deck has a promising future. Erika's Vileplume and Victreebel with
help it out, along with Giovanni's Nidoking. Plus as later additions: Bellsprout
Temple Stadium and...um...that Plant Pokemon that doubles your Plant
energy...what was it's name again? Heh...
Now lets look at my Venucenter deck, Toxic Venom.
