As we all know, Team Rocket
opened up some very new and innovative cards, including those of the water
type, namely Dark Blastoise and Gyarados. Lets look at how these will affect
the Raindance tourney decks:
Dark Gyarados is definetly not
as big a hitter as Gyarados, but is certainly worth adding to your deck.
Since the two have different names, you can include four of each, giving you a
choice depending on the opposition in the tourney. Dark Gyarados could be
considered an Articuno that must be evolved, but has a power. His power may
work very well in Raindance. Drop as much water enrgy on him as you'll need
for a knockout, and if Ice Beam doesn't do the trick, then Final Beam could
certainly be devastating. The only drawback is the coin flip, it's a win or
lose situation.
Dark Blastoise is also a
powerful adversary. Seventy damage a pop knocks out anything in the game in,
at most, two hits. No one is resistant to water. This guy combos well with
Blastoise because of his ability to do so much damage in so little time.
Rocket Tackle isn't to shabby either. Forty damage and a chance at near
invulnerability is simply awesome at 3 energy, two being those of your choice.
So, all in all, these two cards
will definetly add more power to the scene. Although normal Blastoise also
removes Pokemon in a string of two turns, Dark Blastoise does more damage for
his energy, and has a defensive move which no Raindance Pokemon has. Dark
Gyarados has essentially the same move as Gyarados, just for one less energy
and ten less damage. He also adds some great power to Raindance, with the
ability to make use of all his energy while going down.
These two will most likely make
Raindance even faster, using less energy and weilding more powerful attacks.
Look for them to appear against Haymaker decks, attempting to counter their
speed. Somethign I didn't mention was Dark Blastoise's ability to knock out
Haymaker Pokemon in one turn, which Blastoise hits just below that mark. It's
like having a PlusPower attached to him all the time.
