This is a public sevice announcement on behalf of Pojo.com, myself, and
other patrons of the TCG strategies section.
On one of my local radio stations up here, WDVE, there is a comedy sketch
show called "The Mr. Obvious Show". The host, Mr. Obvious, takes calls from
incredibly dumb people who have problems with normally easy situations; cooking
a turkey, valet parking, and garbage disposals. For some reason, these callers
don't already know what these things are or how how to deal with them.
In my opinion, the TCG Strategies section, within the last month or so, has
quickly become the Mr. Obvious Show. And it is making me sick to my stomach. I
used to enjoy reading about fresh, new ideas and strategies that it had to
offer. Now, all I see are 15 new articles a day talking about how (and keep in
mind, these are things featured in aritcles THIS MONTH mind you, not last year
or something) "Sabrina's Golduck makes a great combo with Base Alakazam", or
"Cleffa is a great card drawer", "Meganium, Venusaur, and Pokemon Center work
well together!", and "Hey! Guess What? I just realized that Muk and Promo Entei
make a great combo!". To people that post stuff like this, I say:
"WELL DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"WELCOME TO 2001, EINSTEIN!!!!!! GUESS WHAT? I THOUGHT OF SOMETHING REALLY
COOL, TOO!! SOMEONE ELSE DID, BECAUSE YOUR SO-CALLED 'TIP' (and I use that term
VERY loosely) WAS POSTED ABOUT 50 TIMES BACK IN AUGUST!!!!!"
Then you get the mental wonders who fail to read fine print on cards, or
fail to see that cards can be countered by painfully popular cards, like "4
Elekids on the Bench can deal 40 damage a turn!" or "Fossil Geodude does an
infinite amount of damage!", and "PokeFlute and Rocket's Minefield Gym are a
good combo!"
These people are more tolerable than those previously mentioned. They're
thinking up new ideas, they're original. But sometimes, being original can be a
problem, because, sometimes
"IT WON'T WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Now, not all strategies today are like this. The problem is that all the
good strategies are being drowned in this sea or ignorance and stupidity. I feel
writing this article to the masses would be easier than personally writing to
each and every Induhvidual out there and yelling at them. So, before you try
something like this:
1)Read the archives. Pojo and Doll don't keep those old articles around for
no reason.
2)Read the bloody card that you're talking about inside and out.
3)Maybe you might want to TRY the strategy first to see if it really will
work.
4)TRY to give your article some depth and not just some stupid two-line
article with no e-mail, so we can't yell at you for being an idiot.
5)If you suffer from any of the brain malfunctions I talked about earlier,
try cleaning the mucus out of your brain so it will work again.
Thank you. And I hope to see some good articles in the future.
