We'll get back to the
headlines of today's stories and the daily traphic report, but first,
Archetype Watch with The Whether Man. Whether Man?
Whether Man: Thank you. I
continuously hear all this hype over Aeromew decks. Why does everyone think
this deck is good? Not only can Haymaker crush this deck, but so can the major
deck types that actually need to evolve. Ask yourself this: How many types, in
order to be really good, need evolution? Not to be mono-type, just to be good.
Answer: two, water and grass. Water and grass really need to evolve to make it
in the tournaments. Yet should they be afraid of Aeromew? No, because the deck
has too many flaws.
No, Raindance is not stopped
by Aeromew. Why? Lapras and Articuno. Two big basics that pack a punch. These
guys saved Raindance . One shot of Blizzard nukes both Mew and all Mysterious
Fossils. And in the event that you get Aerodactyl out, we have Lapras to
Confuse Ray it. And, of course, we can't forget big daddy B who can Hydro Pump
your Aerodactyl into oblivion. Scyther? Won't help since no one plays Gyarados.
It may help when Gym Leader comes out since another Gyarados is probably going
to be played, but then that Gyarados has a 4 Water energy attack that can do
70 damage. Electabuzz? Well, yes. But you forgot one thing...
...Grass. Grass,
unfortunately, is a evolution dependant type that, unlike most types, doesn't
have an equivalent of Gyarados/Articuno. However, this is Aeromew we're
talking about. Pinsir and Scyther will do just fine. (Heck, Bulbasaur will do
just fine.) All we have to do is take out Aerodactyl and there's no point in
worrying. Just take out the Mews for easy KO's. And no, Venucenter doesn't die
from Aeromew, mainly because of the 60 damage attack and damage healing
abilities. 'Buzz can do okay against grass, but he doesn't have the added
advantage of weakness. Ditto won't help either, since grass typically uses
status effects. Apparently the ultimate combo isn't so ultimate.
What? Damage Swap? What
about it? Okay, since Damage Swap isn't focused on attacking or speed, it may
have problems, but not much. Mr. Mime is a key ingredient in any Damage Swap
deck. All we need to do is just slap 2+ energy on Mime and he can just sit
there twiddling his thumbs, worry free. Gust of Wind? Okay, just Switch him
back. Gust out my Alakazam? Okay, I'll just gust out your Aerodactyl and
confuse him. Confusing has no drawback when it comes to attacking with
Aerodactyl? No problem, I'll send in Mime. Get the picture?
This goes for
just about every single deck. All you need to do is take out the
Mews/Mysterious Fossils/Aerodactyls and the deck collapses upon itself. This
deck is designed to work at its best in the lategame. By then Mew will become
obselete since you will already have pokemon out that can do 50+ damage,
Aerodactyl will be worthless due to the same reasons, and your opponent will
have the edge against you. And this is all assuming you ever get Aerodactyl
out. Has it dawned on anyone that their opponents may evolve their pokemon
before they ever get Aerodactyl out? This deck has way too many flaws, which
will only increase overtime. Perhaps this deck will get better when new expan....
No, on second thought, probably not. This has been Archetype Watch with The
Whether Man. And now, the traphic report...
