Hello all you happy little trainers in your happy
little world. I have a little advice that you might find helpful if you run a
rainbow deck. I, myself may prefer to run mono or dual decks but I have
noticed litle quirks that most rainbow players seem to have. I find that when
I play against a rainbow, the main strategy is to bash ur opponent into the
ground. Now that may be all well and good if ur playing pokemon tgc for game
boy but out in the real world....... NO WAY!!!!!!!! I ave bee at this for over
two years now and I still see people who I know ae skilled pokemon trainers
making the same mistake and just go for the throat in a batlle and half
thetime they lose by default. I play an electric deck withe 3 wiggly's a
sneasel and an aerodactyl toss in fo r fun and half the time i've got the game
under my control by the 4th round!!!! The problem with rainbow decks is
because of the different pokemon you need too many different blasted energy
types!!!!!
To make it worse most don't see the uses of
pefectly good common trainers like poke ball, switch, gust of wind and
potion!! Rainbow is played A LOT in my scene and when ever I come up against
one it's like leading a lamb to slaughter!
Well I guess I had better get to the tips so
it won't seem that i'm just a raving lunatic;
1) First thing to do is go over your deck and see
which pokemon you end up using the most. Take out the ones you don't NEED!!!
2) Once you've done that you should look over the
deck and see which of the pokemon types has the least and take that energy
type right out of your deck because you don't need it
3)Look through what cards you left in.(hopefully
you took out 1 or 2 energy types) and see what cards could be added to
stengthen these pokemon. Add a few colourless pokemon for good measure. (Ditto
is always a good choce... Koga's ditto is really good for stall decks.( You
can upgrade your HP to 80 and do 30 damage for 1 energy!!)
4)Look at your trainers now. You may find some of them useless now that you've
gotten rid of those card types. If you have any, I suggest that you put in a
few miracle and gold berries for health and status changes and toss in a
couple of GOW, a few energy removal to shut your opponent down and a few
switches incase of major damage or high retreat costs.
5)Look at the energies. Now that youve taken out a
bunch of pokemon you can cut down on energy to save room for deck busting
trainers like Lass and RSA, even pokemon march is a good choice if you've got
wiggly's or sneasels in your deck.Doble Gust is a good hoice if all the
pokemon on your bench are strong and fully powered and they've got weak ones.
Toss in a couple of Pokemon Breeder's for rapid evolution and. To make sure
that you get those evolution lines ready, toss in a couple of PKMN Traders
and/or Poke Balls.
6) Now that you've pretty much fixed the deck you
should think about tossing in an eco deck to keep the energies you do get on
your pokemon, not in the discard. It also elps to add a few plus powers and a
few clourless energies like recycle energy, Full heal energy, potion energy
and last but not least DCE.
Signing off for the first but hopefully not the last time....Pan (yet
