I have recently been reading up on Pokemon strategies and here is a list
of things I will try to comment on or talk about throughout my article.
-Holofoils
-Props 15/3
-Banning
- Drawbacks and Advantages
A) Holofoils
No matter what you say, holofoils do not rule the game. So what if you
have 4 Blastoise, 4 Charizard, 4 Venusaur and 4 Chansey in a deck? That
doesn't mean your deck will always win. On the other hand it doesn't
mean your deck will always lose. Cards are only a fraction of what it
takes to win. Holofoils might sometimes be stronger but they still have
drawbacks just like any other card. You don't have to brag about and
show off your huge stash off holofoils. That's, to some people, like
bragging about Magikarp, Gastly and Porygon. I'm not saying holofoils
are bad but maybe consider Commons or Uncommons.
B)Props 15/3
I personally do not like these Props. In my opinion, they aren't worth
doing. My decks usually have between 15 and 20 trainers. If the deck is
good enough you can get around it but if your deck isn't... Well, let's
just say you'll have a hard time winning. I'm not quite sure what the 3
means but I'm about 60% sure it means no more than three trainers of
one name. If I'm right why did they do it? What's the point of
restricting the number of trainers with one name down to three?
C)Banning
Again, I don't personally like this. I know you're all going to say get
over it and find new cards to use. I agree with that but I also disagree
with it. I think banning started because a group of people said this
card always beats my deck I'll e-mail Wizards and ask them to ban it.
Eventually, only that person's deck will be good. That is not fair. If
Wizards is going to ban a card they should set up a poll or something to
get people's opinions on banning that card.
D)Drawbacks and Advantages
Every card, yes even Porygon, Gastly and Magikarp are good in some way.
Every card, including Scyther, Blastoise and Wigglytuff are bad in some
way. Every card has advantages and disadvantages. Whether you can
exploit their advantages is up to you. I try to find some way to use
each card at least once.
Thanks for listening to my ideas.
