Gym Heroes and Gym
Challenge have the best cards in my opinion. They can either work together
with the other cards, or battle against each other.
That is for you to decide. As a result, some cards stand out in
performance working together or against certain Poke'mon. Here are just a few:
Gym Heroes
Narrow Gym + Defender
This combination stops Wiggly. Narrow Gym
makes it so that there can only be 4 Benched Poke'mon. With Defender,
Wigglytuff will be doing only 20 damage WITH a full Bench!
Lt. Surge Fearow
Clutch should be used against Poke'mon
that take advantage of their free Retreat.
Example: Haunter, Scyther, Pidgeot,
Beedrill, etc.
30 damage is pretty solid as well. Don't
use Repeated Drill unless you've used Clutch or there are already damage
counters on the Defending Poke'mon because it'll take longer to put damage
counters on the Defending Poke'mon with all those coin flips!!
Lt. Surge's Magneton
Energy Charge is like Rain Dance, only
thing you can only attach them to Lt. Surge's Magneton and the Energy must
come from another Poke'mon. This would also be the first Magneton with a
Poke'mon Power and the second one that doesn't Selfdestruct. Use Defender or
Potion to get rid of Mega Shock's self damage.
Erika's Clefable + Alakazam
Fairy Power can be used as a multiple
Scoop Up. Let your opponent put damage counters on Alakazam each turn,
then remove those damage counters and put them on your Benched Poke'mon, then
use Fairy Power to renew you Poke'mon.
Misty + Misty's Seadra
Knockout Needle would be one of the most
powerful attacks in the game with this combination. If it does 30 damage plus
30 damage, add 20 more damge to that and you get 80 damage! If it does 30
damage plus 60 damage, add 20 and you get 110 damage!! This combination knocks
out any Fire Poke'mon.
Misty's Poliwrath + Gust of Wind +
Pidgeot
Use Pidgeot's Hurricane and Gust of Wind
to get out and return those Poke'mon which are Water to your oppnent's
hand so that Misty's Poliwrath's Water Ring can work fully!
Rocket's Moltres
The only Fire Poke'mon that keeps on
coming after it's KO'ed. Fire Wall is excellent as well, for what it does.
Misty's Tentacruel
Flee works like a free Switch which
prevents effects of attacks ( like Lt. Surge's Fearow's Clutch). Plus, Free
Retreat as a Stage 1 makes it one of the best in the Retreat Department.
Jellyfish Poison by turn 3; Poison turn three, Confusion turn four ( or vice
versa).
Gym Challenge
Erika's Jigglypuff
When I bought two Booster Packs and got
one in each, I ut them in my deck immediately. Pulled Punch is awesome!
40 damage first turn! YEAH!!!
Blaine's Rapidash
Like Scyther, Blaine's Rapidash can
use Stamp the same time as Scyther can use its Slash, giving them the same
advantage. Also, free retreat and same HP makes these two cards as good as
each other in battle.
Rocket's Zapdos
Completely broken. Plasma gets one Energy
from the Discard pile, and with Electroburn, there would only be three
Lightling Energy attached to Rocket's Zapdos, so use Defender and self damage
will only be 10!
Lt. Surge's Electrode
Shock Blast works better against
Electric Poke'mon. The possibility of doing 40 as a Poke'mon Power is great.
Power Ball is one of the few attacks that flip coins to add damage, which is
better.
Max Revive + Energy Retrieval
Discard 2 Energy Cards in order to
put a Basic Poke'mon on your Bench from your discard pile? No problem! Use
Energy Retrieval to simply get those Energy back!
Transparent Walls
With this card, you don't have to worry
about attacks that do damage to Bench!
Misty's Gyarados + Muk
You don't have to bother about
Rebellion with a Muk in play. Tidal Wave does 70 damage four four Water Energy
with no setbacks, so you can use it every turn without worrying about Misty's
Gyarados's Poke'mon Power.
That's it for now, more later!!
