Turbo Beedrill

The Original Evolution Haymaker

Turbo Beedrill is a deck I made up during the origins of the Base Set. Itıs focuses on Beedrillıs Twineedle attack by turn 2. Itıs a speed deck. Once you get the first Beedrill out, pump up other Beedrills, Scyther, and Lickitung. Free retreat helps you choose your fighter and options easier. Hereıs a deck list.

4 Weedle
4 Beedrill
3 Scyther
3 Lickitung
4 Bill
3 Computer Search
4 Pokemon Breeder
4 PlusPower
4 Rocket Sneak Attack
3 Gust of Wind
3 Nightly Garbage Run
4 Energy Removal
3 Oak
2 Goop Gas Attack
4 Double Colorless Energy
8 Grass Energy

Strategy: Get a second turn Twineedle. You can also get a second turn Slash after a Swords Dance. Hopefully, you can get a second turn Twineedle, then pump up Scythers, other Beedrills, and Lickitungs. Try to be able to with by turn 6 or 7.

The Cards:

Weedle: Poison is a good status effect for early in the game. Heıs a necessity for Beedrill.

Beedrill: The leader of the deck. With a second turn Twineedle ability, itıs turbo to the max. An awesome combo is to poison with Weedle and then evolve and use Twineedle. You can also pump one up on the bench for Poison Sting. Free retreat and Fighting Resistance make this guy versatile.

Scyther: Free retreat, Colorless Attack, and Fighting Resistance, whatıs not to like? With Beedrill, he can switch around causing chaos. Scyther can also be a good staller with Free Retreat or a good closer.

Lickitung:  Can stall while building up on the bench up Pokemon on the bench or can fight Psychic Pokemon because of Resistance.

Bill: Card advantage! Plain and simple. Bill gets you the cards you need and provides speed.

Computer Search: To get a card needed like a Beedrill or a Pokemon Breeder. Can turn the game into your favor. It can also be used to get an Oak to recover.

Pokemon Breeder: Provides the Turbo essence of the deck. Allows Beedrill to get out by the second turn and be Twineedleing away.

Rocket Sneak Attack: Takes trainers like Super Energy Removal or Oak that would let your opponent walk all over you. It is very helpful against a fire deck. This card can be the difference between an awesome victory or an awful defeat.

PlusPower: This 10 extra damage can be the difference between a win or your opponent drawing a card and recovering.

Gust of Wind: With this card you can get rid of an annoying Smokescreen, stall for a couple of turns, or get that last prize.

Nightly Garbage Run: Get back those Weedles and Beedrills for more Twineddleing. Also helps prevent decking.

Energy Removal: Helps with disruption. Can prevent a loss or a lot of damage to your Pokemon. Helps to disable Wiggly and other energy dependent cards.

Professor Oak: Speed to the 5th power. This is turbo in itıs purest form. It allows you to dump an old, worthless hand for a new, good hand.

Goop Gas Attack: Since Scyther and Beedrill do over 20 damage, this helps incase of Mr. Mime. It also helps incase of Aerodactyl or Blastoise.

Double Colorless Energy: Allows a second turn Slash or Twineedle.

Grass Energy: self-explanatory

The Competition:

Haymaker With a second turn Slash or a second turn Twineedle, you can take out Electabuzz and Hitmonchan no sweat. In variations be wary of Magmar, but if you attack quickly enough with PlusPowers and Removals, you should be okay. You will definitely have an advantage if you go first.

Raindance Again, if you can attack quickly enough with a hail of disruption cards and PlusPowers, It should be a quick game. Your Beedrills and Scythers should be able to take out Gyaradoses easily.

Stall With enough speed this deck should win against stall. Just kill the little basics before they evolve.

The Cleaner Watch out for Magmar. Use disruption cards, Gusts, and PlusPowers to get rid of Growlithe before it evolves. The faster you attack, the better chance you have of winning.

InSaNiTy InSaNiTy has so much speed, it will be hard for Turbo Beedrill to match up. Just get out damage as quickly as possible and use trainers to get the game in your favor.

Mirror Match Against itself there are a lot of key factors that come into winning.
1.
Whoever gets the better hand.
2.
Whoever gets more drawing and recovery
3.
Whoever gets to be able to use more trainers quickly.

History

Turbo Beedrill was a nifty idea that I came up with during the Base Set. A Haymaker at a local tournament had trounced me so I decided I had to create a deck that would be able to stand up to a Haymaker. It suddenly hit me as I was looking through my cards. A deck based around a Pokemon with enough speed, it would rival even Haymaker. I then, over time, came up with the Pokemon, energy, and trainers. It looked something like this:

4 Weedle
4 Beedrill
2 Chansey
4 Farfetchıd
4 Bill
3 Computer Search
4 Pokemon Breeder
4 PlusPower
4 Gust of Wind
3 Scoop Up
4 Energy Removal
4 Oak
4 Double Colorless Energy
12 Grass Energy

The Cards:

Weedle: The starter of this deck. Can enduse poison, which is a good status effect early on.

Beedrill: The Speed Demon. He can use Twineedle on turn 2, or you can pump up one on the bench for Poison Sting.

Chansey: The Big Egg. He can stall while youıre pumping up your bench or go down Kamikaze Style.

Farfetchıd:  Fighting Resistance and a fast attack. The Fetchıd One bring home the
bacon. . .er, prizes that is. Use him for a fast opener or a strong finisher.

Bill: Card advantage. Simple as that.

Oak: Everyoneıs favorite Professor lets you dump your awful hand for a new 7 cards to work with. Absolute speed.

Computer Search: Search your deck for any card! Pinch me, Iım dreaming! This allows you to get a needed card to win or stay alive.

PlusPower: 10 extra damage can be the difference between the game and a recovery for your opponent. This helps take out those 70 HP Pokemon easier.

Energy Removal: This helps you to disable a Pokemon or buy you some turns.

Gust of Wind: This card can get you an easy prize or allows you to stall to pump up you Pokemon.

Scoop Up: This is mostly for stalling with Chansey. Can help stall and prevents your Pokemon from getting a prize.

Pokemon Breeder: This is how this deck got Turbo in its name. This allows Beedrill to get out by turn 2 and start Twineedleing away.

Double Colorless Energy: This allows Beedrill to Twineedle by turn 2. Farfetchıd and Chansey use this to attack faster.

Grass Energy: No explanation needed.

Jungle The New Beginning

Jungle gave us a card we all know and love. Scyther! With Scyther, this deck gained a lot of versatile. I also decided that Lickitung should replace Chansey because of its Paralyzing attack for only one energy. With the addition of Scyther and Lickitung, Farfetchıd and Chansey were officially retired. The deck now looks like this:

4 Weedle
4 Beedrill
3 Scyther
3 Lickitung
4 Bill
3 Computer Search
4 Pokemon Breeder
4 PlusPower
4 Gust of Wind
3 Scoop Up
4 Energy Removal
4 Oak
4 Double Colorless Energy
12 Grass Energy

The Cards:

Weedle: The starter of this deck. Can enduse poison, which is a good status effect early on.

Beedrill: The Speed Demon. He can use Twineedle on turn 2, or you can pump up one on the bench for Poison Sting.

Scyther: With a colorless attack, Fighting Resistance, No Rereat, and 70 HP make him an awesome Pokemon. He can also Swords Dance and Slash for 60 on turn 2.

Lickitung:  A good 10 damage for one energy and a chance of paralysis is pretty good. Can go against Psychic Pokemon because of resistance or stall while pumping up Pokemon.

Bill: Card advantage. Simple as that.

Oak: Everyoneıs favorite Professor lets you dump your awful hand for a brand new 7 cards to work with.
