Hey Pojo fans!
Okay, I'm here to talk about problem cards like Charizard, Mr. Mime, and the
others that you hate to deal with when playing. I wanna talk to you about
defending your own cards from these guys too.
CHARIZARD
1st off I want to talk about the all-powerful Charizard. I'm a plant-type
guy myself. I always use strong plant evolution decks so I have serious
problems with fire-types. Charizard was always a serious problem for me.
How
can a plant/colorless deck take out Charizard? Simple. Send out a Porygon
and change Charizard's weakness. Porygon will be fried but it doesn't really
matter. Now send out a card that can do 60 HP damage or more like Venusaur
(
for me), Arcannie, Ninetails, Zapdos (Basic Set), Ditto, Clefairy, or
Clefable. With the damage doubled Charizard will go down fast. You'll lose
your Porygon but it's 1 for 1. Not bad for taking out the most powerful card.
MR. MIME
One of the best stallers and nightmare to hard-hitting evolution decks like
mine. What can I do? At first I thought that giving it a bad status
effect
to get rid of that Pokemon Power would do it but that didn't work too well.
There is one card, though, that is made for getting rid of Mr. Mime. The
answer: Nidoking! Nidoking's Toxic attack does 20 damage, getting rid of half
of Mr. Mime's HP. After Mr. Mime's turn the posion does another 20, killing
M.M. in one attack. If you don't have Nidoking or you use a different type
of deck you can use other cards. Bulbasaur is good against M.M. because of
the healing that Leech Seed does. As for stall decks you can use an Abra's
Psyshock (which does 20 because of M.M's weakness. Plus it can stun M.M. for
a turn so you can finish it off) and for the haymakers you can use a Machop.
Drowzee is good at getting rid of M.M. too.
CLEFAIRY AND CLEFABLE
These two can be bad news for any kind of deck. With the power to copy one of
your moves it can be a real threat to any Pokemon you send out. Avoid putting
out Exeggutor and any water-type with Water Gun as an attack. Because
Clefairy/Clefable will ignore any extra energy costs for these moves they can
do maximum damage with Water Gun and against Exeggutor they don't have to
stop their attack until they kill your Exeggutor. (Fairy Pokemon fans use
this info!) Don't send out Zapdos either. Faries can use Thunderbolt without
discarding any energy, killing your big bad bird in one hit. So what DO you
use? Gloom is a good choice. Especially agianst Clefairy. All Clefairy can do
is posion you. It CAN use foul odor but it will really be putting itself at
risk so the other player won't do it (most of the time, anyway). You should
use Foul Odor on your turn. You'll take half of Clefairy's HP and it's
confusion may kill it on it's next turn. If you have Fighting Pokemon with
you be glad! Clefairy can't double damage by weakness like you can when you
use fighting power against it. Hitmonchan is great for killing fairies and
Hitmonlee is even better. Most players don't like to send out Clefairy until
it evolves so you can use a Stretch Kick to take it out while it's on the
bench. Sure it takes up two of your turns but you'll be better off doing
it.
Also make sure you never send out a Pokemon with Recover or else your in
trouble. Fighting Pokemon are your best bet against these two tough Pokemon.
Just don't use really strong ones like Machamp.
DITTO
With fossil out more lethal weapons have been born. Ditto is one of them. I
see people use Ditto alot. Most people have serious problems getting rid of
this Pokemon. The easy way out is Muk. Without it's Pokemon Power Ditto is
helpless. Sure your opponent will most likely retreat Ditto but at least you
don't have to deal with him. Your opponent will just leave Ditto one the
bench to take up space...unless he has a Scoop Up with him.
Well thats about all I have for now. Next time I'll be discussing special
ways to stall and guard your Pokemon from certian moves. I'll talk about how
to combine Pokemon Powers to do great combos with Exeggutor and more. Until
next time...
