Hello, its me again (nalliac), the reason why i'm writing this is I recently
read a number of atricles on the new 'trap' deck (since I live in New
Zealand its not played here yet), and I was not impressed. I thought it
sounded to unrealible to get popular. Then I thought a REAL trap deck would
get your opponent into a sticky situation then prevent them from getting out
of it.Poision is not a very good status effect if its on your pokemon, but
retreating can stop that, so if you could stop your opponent from
retreating, then poision them, without a switch they aren't going to be very
happy.....
The first thing I did was look for ways to stop your opponent retreating.
Dark Dugtrio sprang to mind, as it only needs to be on the bench for its
pokemon power to start working. The only problem with this is they effect
your pokemon as well, so high HP would be needed. At first I thought
Nidoking would be the perfect poisioner in the deck(the ability to deal 20
poision damage instead of 10 was intising), but then I found it took up 12
spaces of the deck, (4 Nidoran male, 4 Pokemon breeder and 4 Nidoking)only 4
of which had the ability to poision. And making the number of cards in play
5 to get the combo going (Diglett, Dark Dugtrio, Nidoran male, Pokemon
breeder and Nidoking ), thus causing the deck to be almost
unplayable.Tangela, (base)Koffing and Venomoth would all be good in a deck
like this, because they can paralise or confue as well as poision. That left
me with the following pokemon:
Pokemon (23)
4 Diglett (base)
4 Dark Dugtrio
4 Koffing (base)
4 Tangela
4 Venonat
3 Venomoth
Now for the trainers.
There needed to be a way to get the cards needed for the combo, so Computer
search and Pokemon Trader were in. Bills, Professor Oaks and Energy
Retrevals. Nightly Gargage Run + Item Finder is another good combo, so there
in as well.(Since Gym has not been realesed where I live, there will
probobly be some cards from it that should be included into this deck). Now
correct me if I'm wrong but according to my sources, there should be a
stadium card called'Prision' from Gym heros, which adds another energy to
retreat, my 'sources' are sometimes inacuate, so I will not include this
card in the deck (just in case). This is a list of the traimers in the deck:
Trainers (15)
4 Bill
4 Item Finder
4 Nightly Garbage Run
3 Pokemon Trader
2 Professor Oak
2 Energy retreval
The energy was quite simple as Grass is the main element to attack with, so
the number of fighting energys would be minimal.
So this is a list of the deck:
The REAL trap deck
Pokemon (23)
4 Diglett (base)
4 Dark Dugtrio
4 Koffing (base)
4 Tangela
4 Venonat
3 Venomoth
Trainers (15)
4 Bill
4 Item Finder
4 Nightly Garbage Run
3 Pokemon Trader
2 Professor Oak
2 Energy retreval
Energy (22)
18 Grass
4 Fighting
Due to the inability to gather resources in such a limmited ammount of time,
I was unable to play-test this deck. So don't get me wrong, THIS IS A ROUGH
DRAFT OF THE DECK! not a real one. I'm sure someone will better this ROUGH
copy of the deck TENFOLD (easily).
