Hello.
This is Adam, and I have come to do my top ten Pokemon cards. Something I
have noticed about top ten lists is that they are fun to write and read, but
if you read too many they get BORING. But don't get bored with this article,
I'll make it good.
The top 10 Pokemon cards of all time by Adam H.
-----------------------------------------------
10. Gust of Wind.
This card is great for situations when your opponent has a damaged
Pokemon/30 HP weakling on their bench and you could K.O. it in one hit with
your active Pokemon. It is essential in almost any deck. I believe it is
slightly better than Switch.
9. Item Finder.
It helps you get a trainer back you need when you need it. The discard of
two cards from your hand can sometimes be a small price to pay, for a gust,
switch, prof. oak, or Pokemon breeder!
8. MP Mewtwo.
Its Psyburn attack is great like Hitmonchan's Special punch but it can be
charged up on turn 2 with a Computer Search discarding 2 Psychic energy,
then using the move Energy Absorbtion. 70 HP is good for a basic.
7. Hitmonchan.
It is surprisingly similar to MP Mewtwo, but it has a 20-damage attack for
one energy which I think is better than Energy Absorbtion. Again 70 HP is
good. Also it is great against Wigglytuff.
6. Wigglytuff.
It can do 60 for three energy with Do the Wave, if you have a full bench! It
relies on power, speed and maybe a few Pluspowers to knock out Haymaker
pokemon.
5. Bill.
This card gives you two extra cards with no drawback. Nearly all decks NEED
4 Bills to win consistently. But two cards is not even a third of seven...
4. Blastoise.
He gives you the opportunity to break the one energy per turn rule. That
means that you can charge up Blastoise, Dark Blastoise, Articuno and Lapras
on turn 2! Dark Blastoise is great against those annoying Haymaker Pokemon,
Lapras is good against Mr Mime and Articuno is a heavy hitter with no
weakness. Also Blastoise's attack is good on its own.
3. Scyther.
A colourless attack for 3 energy that does 30, 70 HP, fighting resistance
and free retreat, all of which make him good in all sorts of decks. Swords
Dance lets him charge up for Slash second turn, although Scyther is still
great without it!
2. Electabuzz.
Thundershock is a good starting attack, because it can stop the opponent
from attacking before you can do a Thunderpunch. Thunderpunch is a great
attack, for only two energy. I think this card is great. My highest
reccommendation goes on this card.
1. Professor Oak.
This is THE best card in Pokemon - it's as simple as that. He gives you a
new hand, but you have to discard your hand, so you should try to get rid of
all the cards in your hand first. Works great in Raindance, giving you water
energy etc!
So there you have it - My Top Ten Pokemon Cards. One thing I have noticed is
that all of the cards are available in Base Set 2, apart from MP Mewtwo. So
the article by 'el ravager' was right, BS2 has most of the good cards (but
personally I like Base, Jungle, Fossil and Rocket but Gym Heroes is the
worst expansion ever.)
