Is it just me or is Rain Dance dead ? I take a look at articles and deck
reports from Pojo's site and they seem to be filled with nothing but
Wigglytuff, Sponge, and of course the infamous Haymaker decks. Not a lot
of older kids from where I live play and the metagame in my area is
quite a mix. It's mostly Haymaker with a few Rain Dances and all the
little kids seem to be into one colour decks that they made themselves.
There seem to be no Stall, Sponge, or Wiggly decks around here.
Here are some cards which I think are overlooked by people but are
worthy considerations in a Rain Dance:
Plus Power
They worked well in Haymakers because Haymakers could polish off those
weak basics with one shot. Well with Blastoise's Hydro Pump you can
attach one Plus Power to KO a 70 HP Pokemon and as we all know almost
all Haymaker Pokemon have 70 HP. This seems obvious but I don't see any
people in my area doing it.
Nightly Garbage Run
One of Rain Dance's weaknesses was self decking and with a couple of
these in your deck you can buy yourself a few turns to win the game.
Also good for reusing Squirtles and Blastoises (you only have 4 of each)
as well as energy.
Energy Retrieval
I don't know about you but everyone who plays Haymaker runs SER and ER
in their decks. Think of this card as an insurance policy.
