Ok, I'm going to do the top 3 Pokemon in each type.

Fire:
3.Ninetails-Can KO most popular pokemon in 1 hit.
2.Dark Charizard-Masive damage for low energy costs and can kill Mime unlike
Base Charizard.
1.Magmar(Fossil)-Low costs, great effects, decent damage, ok retreat, good
HP, basic, figured out why its here yet?
Honorable Mention:Arcanine(Promo and Base)

Water:
3.Articuno & Lapras-Couldn't decide which was better, Lapras is the water
Haymaker and articuno great in Raindance.
2.Dark Blastoise-Great in Raindance and can KO most popular pokemon in 1
hit.
1.Blastoise(Base)-Hmmm. I wonder why? Maybe because it is one of the most
broken cards in the game because it breaks the 1 energy card per turn rule.
It also has a very effective deck archetype built around it.
Honorable Mention:Gyarodas

Electric:
3.Dark Raichu-May not be the fastest Pokemon but when it gets pumped up your
opponent needs to have a lot of damage counters ready.
2.Lt. Surge's Electabuzz(70HP)-Sponge might have a new pokemon. Great HP and
is like an electric MP Mewtwo except you have to dicard a lot but charge can
help and can do more damage than MP Mewtwo.
1.Electabuzz-This one's hard to figure out why its here. Speed. Nice first
attack and wonderful second attack. Fast Cheap damage+Good HP+Basic=broken
Pokemon.
Honorable Mention:Raichu(Base) & Lt. Surge's Raichu

Grass:
3.Venusaur(Base & Promo)-Both have great Poke Powers and decent attacks.
2.Rocket Scyther-Shadow image is great for stalling and Blinding Scythe is
great especially with DCE. Also is a basic with 1 retreat. Cool!
1.Scyther-Duh! Great HP, colorless attack, basic, no retreat, fighting
resistance, and can go into about any deck make this Pokemon one of the most
used and best cards in the game.
Honorable Mention:Pinsir

Fighting/Ground:
3.Dark Dugtrio-Great attack. 40 for 2 fighting and no drawbacks is amazing.
But you might only do 20. Sinkhole is pretty good. Not the greatest Poke
because of HP and can be KOed by Scyther in 1 hit. Resistance against
electric is a plus though.
2.Rocket Hitmonchan-Crosscounter is good and Magnum Punch is excellent.
1.Hitmonchan-1 energy and 20. 3 for 40. Basic and 70Hp? Amazing!

Psychic:
3.Gengar & Sabrina's Gengar-Both are great. They both have amazing
evolutions and Sabrina's Gengar's first attack is kind of like Gengar's
power because they spread damage and both have a nice 2nd attack. Good Hp
too and great retreat for stage 2.
2.Alakazam(Base)-Damage Swap is great! The ability to move damage around is
great.
1.Movie promo Mewtwo-Very powerful. Use the sponge trick to get him powered
up on turn 2 and start doing 40. He also has 70HP.
Honorable Mention:Mr. Mime

Colorless:
3.Ditto-this guy is great. He can insure that you can match whatever your
opponent throws at you. The only problem is people can retreat their big
hitter when your Ditto is damaged, send out  send out someone who has HP=to
the damage on Ditto and ditto is KOed. Also Goop Gas and GOW can be killers.
2.Clefable-I know some people are shouting at their computers right now
about this one but let me explain. It takes 1 colorless energy to copy the
opponents attack no matter what the requirement is. That is broken. Also
70HP. The only bad thing is Clefairy but that can be easily overcome. Don't
put Clefairy down until you have Clefable in hand. Then you only have to
survive 1 turn before you get the powerful Clefable. Alsp Resistance against
Psychic is great.
1.Wigglytuff-this is about the only evolution used in today's enviroment.
The ability to do 60 damage for 3 colorless is amazing. Also Great HP and
resistance against Psychic.

Remember these are my opinions so don't tell me this is the worst list ever
and there are a lot of other good Pokemon in every type and some equal the
ones on the list. I tried to choose only the best but there were a lot of
places where some pokemon could be equal.
