Hello Pojo Fans,

Accesscode Talker was one of the most talked about Link Monsters (but not the most) of the year, and comes in at #8 on the countdown.

Link 4 that needs at least two monsters for its summon, Accesscode prevents your opponent from responding to its effect, a good bit of protection. Its effect is tied to using Link Monsters for its Link Summon, that’s a bit of a negative, but with any Link 4 you are likely using at least one Link Monster. ATK gain x1000 for the Link Rating of a Link Monster used for Accesscode’s Link Summon on top of the cards 2300ATK means you are getting a 3300ATK Link 4 minimum, and it’s permanent. 1-for-1 pop effect, but banishing a Link Monster is easier than giving up a card on your side of the field/in your hand. Locking you out of banishing the same Attribute that you just banished isn’t something to worry about either. Accesscode is an OTK card. There’s nothing stopping you from making a couple of Link Monsters, linking them away for Accesscode, and having a huge attacker that can also pop cards on the field and not have its effects negated. Accesscode can clear the field and smash your opponent directly for upwards of 6300 damage on its own. It doesn’t prevent you from using other monsters to attack, this card can be the one punch knockout card that any deck could make. Even at 3300ATK it is a problem because you can’t activate cards in response to it banishing a Link to pop a card, and it isn’t once per turn. It wouldn’t be as overpowered I think if that banish-to-pop was a hard once per turn, but it is what it is.

Number 8 brings us to one of the most powerful Link-4s in the game and a card that has arguably replaced Borrelsword Dragon in the meta. From Eternity Code, we have Accesscode Talker.

Accesscode is a Link-4 DARK Cyberse with 2300 ATK and arrows pointing Up, Down, Left, and Right. 2300 ATK is kinda low, but it can get higher with ease, adding with DARK being a good Attribute and Cyberse having a plethora of support. The summoning requirements are any 2+ Effect Monsters, making it super easy to summon. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this card’s effect activations, making everything it does a Spell Speed 4 basically. Upon Link Summon, you can target a Link Monster in the graveyard used to Link Summon this card and have it gain 1000 ATK times the Link Rating of the target. So in theory you’re likely to gain 2000 or 3000 ATK just for summoning this, but it can be easy to gain more. A Link-1 alone makes this a respectable 3300 ATK, but if you want to use a Link-4, Link-5, or Link-6 and you can get an insane boost all the way up to 8300. You can banish a Link Monster you control or in the graveyard to target and destroy a card the opponent controls, which is a great effect when you consider the opponent cannot respond to this. It’s easy and great removal that isn’t a true hard once per turn, but instead once per Attribute you can banish, meaning you get a max of 6 cards to destroy from this until we potentially get a DIVINE Link or a new Attribute in the game. Either way, multiple destructions the opponent cannot respond to is just insane, making it a worthy Link Boss staple.

Advanced Rating: 5/5

Art: 4/5 Code Talkers are fine, but not too insane with art.

#8:  Accesscode Talker
Position on my list:  N/A
My #8:  Ghost Mourner and Moonlit Chill

Our first (we’ll see how many Links make the list, I only get to see week 1 of cards as I type this) Link for this countdown is Accesscode Talker.  Link 4, Cyberese/Dark, 2300 attack, and arrows pointing to the direct upper and lower as well as the direct left and right.  Link Summon requirements are 2+ Effect Monsters, which is certainly easy enough.  2300 attack sure is low on a Link 4 (but it gets better as I’m sure you know).  So first is immunity to this card activating effects from your opponent.  It’s always a marvelous thing when you can use the effect of any card and know that it’s going to go through.  When Link Summoned, you can Target a Link used for this Link Summon and this card gains attack 1000x the Link Rating of said Monster.  So even a 1 boosts this to 3300 attack (and yeah, that can shoot up quickly if you happened to use something of a higher Link, but 3300 should suffice).  Removing a Link Monster from your Field or Grave from the game lets you destroy a card your opponent controls.  Note, this is one of the rare, awesome times that’s not a once per turn effect.  You can’t, however, remove a Link of the same Attribute subsequent times in the same turn.  Which is good and actually increases the playability of this card, at least in my opinion.

Rating:  5/5

Art:  4.5/5  While pretty, it’s just a little messy to me.  There’s a lot going on here, and at a glance, it makes this a bit difficult to decipher.
