King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, Alien Mother has a nice Goyo Guarian effect as long as the monster destroyed has an “A-Counter” on it when destroyed. 2300ATK for a Level 6 is good enough to get the job done. The Battle Phase has to end before you get your monster, which stops the extra attack you’d get with the stolen monster. All monsters brought back by Alien Mother get destroyed if she leaves the field, but you likely are going into a Rank, Synchro, or Link straight-away after bringing one of their monsters. There is some decent Reptile support to combo with the standard Alien cards that can place “A-Counters” on monsters. Unlike Goyo, you don’t have to jump through hoops to summon Alien Mother, but you’ll need at least 1 other card to get the A-Counter onto the monster. Absolutely great in the archetype, but can’t drop her into anything else unless you have some cards utilizing/distributing A-Counters. Advanced-2/5 Art-3/5 Until Next Time |
WarlockBlitz From earth to Aliens. Alien Mother is a Level 6 Dark Reptile-type monster with 2300 Atk and 1500 Def. 100 more Atk would have been Jinzo good as far as stats go. Aliens are reptiles (better looking Gorn). She has to destroy a monster with an Alien counter by battle and send it to the grave to Special Summon that monster to your side at the end of the Battle Phase. If she were given more attack or multiple attacks you could potentially clear their board of monsters, but that’s a stretch. End of the Battle Phase means none of the stolen monsters will be attacking. If Alien Mother leaves the field, all her Special Summoned monsters are destroyed. So far none of these monsters are particularly motherly or protect much. Maybe we should have just reviewed Insect Queen again, she’s definitely a mother. Anyway, at least Alien Mother looks freakishly strong. Score: 2.5/5 Art: 4/5 |
Crunch$G I like the Alien archetype, so thankfully they have a Mother we can talk about, Alien Mother. Alien Mother is a Level 6 (so many Level 6s) DARK Reptile with 2300 ATK and 1500 DEF. Stats are once again acceptable on a Level 6. DARK is a great type, but Reptile is an under looked type despite them having their own Painful Choice basically. When Alien Mother destroys a monster in battle that had an A-Counter, you can Special Summon the monster it destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase, and when Alien Mother leaves the field, monsters summoned off this effect are destroyed. Basically it is a much worse Goyo Guardian, even though this was before Goyo Guardian. Summoning the monster in any position is nice, but at the end of the Battle Phase is kind of a letdown since you can’t do more immediate damage. Also the monsters dying when this dies kinda sucks, especially since 2300 ATK isn’t the hardest in the world to kill anymore. Also, why does this not have the effect most Aliens have that when it battles a monster with an A-Counter, said monster loses 300 ATK per counter. Now I know the other Aliens can give that to Alien Mother, but shouldn’t the Mother be able to do that herself as well. Aliens aren’t the fastest at generating board presence except for Overlord and Dog, so if you summon Mother, hope you have another Alien to debuff opposing monsters. Alien Mother has a nice concept, but it is pretty flawed. Advanced Rating: 2.25/5 Art: 3.5/5 Aliens honestly look pretty cool. |
Alex Searcy Alien Mother continues our Mother week, and we have a Dark, Level 6 Reptile, again with the just short attack point of 2300. So, if this card destroys a Monster with an A-Counter (and the Alien Counters are more or less the heart and soul of an Alien Deck) and sends it to the Graveyard, you get to Special Summon it to your Field at the end of the Battle Phase. Extra assets can be nice, I knocked the 2300 attack, but it will destroy stuff. And after the Battle Phase means you can’t kill the opponent off right then. Appropriately enough, when this card is removed from the Field (no stipulation as to how, just when it leaves) all Monsters Special Summoned by this effect are destroyed. Aliens are a really cool concept, that never took off. There aren’t many of them, and they just don’t do enough. Maybe we’ll get enough support down the road to make them playable. Baneful Aliens weren’t even good when they came out. This one has a nice Goyo Guardian-like effect, but the problem is that the deck type just didn’t have any good ways to Special Summon their LV5+ monsters, so this card just clogs your hand. |
