– #LED7-EN004

Add 1 “The Winged Dragon of Ra” from your Deck or GY to your hand, and if you do, you can Tribute Summon 1 monster during your Main Phase this turn, in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) You can banish this card from your GY: If you Tribute Summon “The Winged Dragon of Ra” this turn, its original ATK/DEF become the combined original ATK/DEF of the monsters Tributed for its Summon. You can only activate 1 “Ancient Chant” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Ancient Chant is the card The Winged Dragon of Ra needed, period.

Guardian Slime searches this card. With Chant you search your Winged Dragon of Ra and immediately get to play it if you have the monsters for it. That alone makes it a great card for a focused Ra deck, but then you get the second effect tacked on. Ra in the real world doesn’t get that ATK/DEF boost it gets in the show, and you won’t always want to pay down to 100LP. Remove to boost the ATK/DEF permanently raises Ra’s consistency and playability to the level of the other Divine-Beasts. Even smaller ATK/DEF monsters are worth it, any ATK/DEF is better than 0/0. You’ll always go after the Ra in your deck, but the added benefit of being able to pull back from your grave ensures you’ll always have a Ra to choose from.

Simple card for a tough card at times to play and improves on the card with a second effect.

I’d do the chant here, but I don’t remember it by heart and it’s pretty long, so here’s Ancient Chant.

Ancient Chant is a Normal Spell that adds The Winged Dragon of Ra from your Deck or graveyard to your hand and then that turn would let you Tribute Summon a monster in addition to your Normal Summon or Set if you wanted. At least it helps get to Ra and gives you the opportunity to summon it, I just wish it searched more than the original Ra. Having a searcher for Sphere Mode could of been really nice, but it is what it is. You can banish this card from the graveyard to have a The Winged Dragon of Ra you Tribute Summon this turn have its original ATK/DEF become the combined original ATK/DEF of the monsters tributed to summon it, which is something we would of loved on Ra itself like the anime, but at least we can finally do that. You can only activate 1 Ancient Chant per turn, but you should only need 1 Ra a turn anyways really, so that’s fine. The card does what it needs to do for Ra, get you to the Ra and helps you summon it with some actual stats without you having to pay LP, it’s the most important Ra card easy.

Ancient Chant does what you’d expect; assisting in bringing Ra to the Field, just not very well.  This is a Normal Magic, whose first effect lets you add Ra from your Deck or Graveyard to your Hand.  Nice way to fetch Ra immediately and you are then awarded the ability to Tribute an extra Monster during your Main Phase (additionally to your Normal Summon or Set).  So you certainly SHOULD be Summoning Ra to the Field this turn.  If you Tribute for Ra, and remove this card from your Grave from play, Ra’s attack and defense become the combined atk/def of said Monsters used for Tribute Summon.  Which does open potentially a Field for a Ra with an insane amount of attack.  I suppose that could open the door for some OTK but that might be stretching.  The problem with attack is, no matter how high, there’s no protection here, so it still falls prey to any Magic/Trap/Monster effect as it goes to the Graveyard.

Art:  4/5  The art does represent well here.  Ra is emerging from its sphere.
