Introduction to DNA2

In the future Japan has a major problem and that problem is found in population. The government can not figure out how there are this many people, though. Finally, the government discovers the major reason for the over-population and that problem is Junta Momomari. Junta Momomari is also known as the "Mega-Playboy". The Mega Playboy is the man who had children with over 100 wives and with each of those children, the Mega Playboy gene was passed on.

So, all the government has to do is to find Junta, but the problem is that he dies several years ago. This is where Karin Aoi enters into the story. Karin is a DNA specalist who is able to alter people's DNA by shooting them with special bullets. So, it is Karin's job to go back into the past, before Junta became the "Mega-Playboy", and to alter his genes so that he can be a normal person. In return for her work, Karin is going to recieve a paycheck of 100 million dollars.

When Karin arrives in the past she finds someone who she can not believe is Junta. Junta is just a boy who is deathly afraid of girls and will throw up upon to much interaction with girls. So, Karin does her job and shoots Junta with the DCM(the bullet which will alter Junta's DNA), but there is a slight problem. Karin shoots Junta with the wrong bullet and the bullets effects are not good. She ends up turning Junta into the Mega Playboy.

This isn't the only problem, though, it seems that Junta is falling in love with Karin. Then we have Ami Kurimoto who has been Junta's long time friend, but she secretly loves Junta. Not only that, but Tomoko Saeki also is in love with Junta and says that she will not give up on him

So, what will become of Junta's love life and the fact that he is now the "Mega Playboy"?

Main Characters:

Junta Monomari- Junta sees like your normal kid, but he has a major problem with him. Junta has an allergy to women, the allergy causes him to throw up whenever he sees partially nude women or women wearing risque clothing. Junta is always trying to cure his problem, but he never can seem to do so. When Aoi comes to the past we find out that Junta is the Mega-Playboy. Whenever Junta transforms into the Mega Playboy all the women around him fall in love with him, well, except for Ami. Ami has been good friends with Junta since they were little kids and this may be why she is immune to his playboy form. When Junta first sets his eye's Aoi he falls in love with her and he will not hear any of it when Aoi tells him that he has to fall in love with Ami.

Karin Aoi- Aoi is the DNA operator sent from the future, her mission is to shoot Junta with a DCM bullet. The bullet will cause his DNA to change and thus he will not turn into the Mega Playboy. If her mission is a success, Aoi will recieve a large amount of cash. Throughout the whole series Aoi makes it clear that her dream is to find the perfect husband, big house, and cute pet. Aoi is plagued by many problems from the get go, though, among them are the fact that she brings the wrong DCM bullet with her, she is told that if she fails she will be executed, and also that whenever Junta changes into the Mega Playboy Aoi falls in love with him.

Ami Kurimoto- Ami has been the best friend of Junta since he was a little kid. Ami has been in love with Junta for a long time, and when they were little kids it was decided that they would marry. The problem with this, though, is that Junta wants to be with Aoi and not Ami. Ami doesn't reveal her feeling very often and will sacrafice what she wants to see her friends happy. One of the reasons that Ami would be a good wife for Junta is that Junta's Mega Playboy form has no effect over Junta and that would most likely stop him from having 100 children.

Tomoko Saeki- Tomoko Saeki is Ryuuji's boyfriend at the beginning of the anime. Junta is very attracted to Tomoko, but at the beginning of the series Tomoko is mean to Junta and uses him. Once Tomoko sees him as the mega playboy, though, she falls in love with him and dumps Ryuuji. Well, as a result of dumping Ryuuji, a lot of the chaos that goes on throughout the series is set up.

Kotomi Takanashi- Has a smaller part in the anime, but still is a main character, she is a very good friend to Ami. Kotomi has a problem similar to Junta's, whenever she gets nervous around people she tends to fart. When Kotomi sees Junta as the Mega-Playboy she falls in love with him. Kotomi is willing to go all the way to gain Junta's love and almost does a few times. Instead of falling in love with her, though, Junta tells Kotomi that he is going to help her get over her gas problem. One of the main reasons she needs to get rid of her problem is because she must compete in a national gymnatics competition.

Ryuuji Sugashita- Ryuuji is a womanizer who often cheats on his girlfriend, Tomoko. When Tomoko sees the Mega Playboy she falls in love with him and she breaks up with Ryuuji, Ryuuji has never been dumped before. From this point on Ryuuji hates Junta and vows to get revenge on him. As a result of Aoi's clumsiness, Ryuuji gains special powers and uses these powers in an attempt to disgrace Junta's name.

What I have to say about DNA2

Review: The anime was very well done and it brings in many different elements to ensure its success. The anime goes from being a comedy, to a romantic comedy, to action. All around this was a very well done anime.

Plot: the plot was one of the strong points of the anime, the way that they present the purpose of the series is very well done. Also, there are always twists and turns in the plot. Just as things seem to start working out, another speed bump comes along to mix things up.

Music: I thought the music was very well done, it has one of my favorite opening songs. The actual background music was very well done and it fit the scene very well done. I did find that is was a little repetative, though. Besides that the music was great

Artwork: I enjoyed the art work in this anime a lot, this is an older anime, but it still pulled through. The actual designs of the characters were very well done. The artwork helped to add to this anime greatly.

Plot: A
Music: B+
Artwork: A-
Overall: A

Overall Thoughts- When the anime was made they took out quite a bit that was in the manga, the thing that is bad about this is that the ending that we see in the anime was rushed and not set up or done like it was in the manga. Another thing is that the anime and manga end in two different ways, where the anime ends, the manga keeps going on for a little while longer. All in all, though, I found this to be a great anime. Even if you have never read the manga or heard of this anime I still suggest that you buy it.
