Introduction to Flame of Recca

Flame of Recca is the story of Hanabishi Recca. Recca is a Hokuga Ninja Flame Masters, but he has not been able to find his flame, yet, in fact he doesn't even know he has this power. 400 years ago, Recca was sent to the present using a time manipulation technique. Recca is a boy who loves anything that is ninja and practices his art quite often, even though he doesn't understand why he likes ninja, he does it anyway. One day he sees a girl and falls in love with her instantly, he promises to protect her and calls her his hime (princess). With the arrival of Kage Houshi, Recca finds out about his past and that he has the power of the flame and is able to use it.

There is a rising force of evil and Recca and his friends must find someway to stop it. All armed with there elemental weapons they train to take on this evil. The only question is whether they are strong enough to defeat the evil?

Recca and Friends

Hanabishi Recca- Recca is a descendent of the Hokage Ninja Flame Masters. This means that he has the power to form a flame. On his right arm he has a metal band and this prevents his true power from arising and destroying his body. 400 years ago Recca was sent into the future by his mother in an attempt to prevent his from getting killed by the other Hokage Ninja's who at the time here having a civil war. In the present time, Recca is a high school student who is obsessed with anything ninja, he doesn't understand why, but he just is. On day Recca meats a girl named Sakoshita Yanagi and he tells her that he will be her ninja and that she will be his hime (princess).

Sakoshita Yanagi- Yanagi meets Recca one day while she is taking care of children. When an accident occurs and construction material is going to fall on Yanagi, Recca runs in and pushes her out of the way, Recca gets seriously injured, though. Yanagi has a special power to heal people, though, so she heals Recca. After Recca's first fight with Kage, Recca tells Yanagi that he will be her ninja and that she is his hime (princess). Mori Kouran wants Yanagi so that he can do tests on her to determine if she is the key to eternal life.

Ishijima Domon- An old rival of Recca's, he wants to defeat Recca so that he can make him his servant. Domon is a very large guy, but he lacks intelligence. Domon becomes friends with Recca when they fight Fuko. Domon's elemental weapon is Saturn's Rings.

Kirisawa Fuko- Fuko and Recca have been friends since they were children. Fuko has always fought with Recca in the hopes that she would win and Recca would have to be her ninja. Recca ends up being the ninja of Yanagi however and the part that gets Fuko the most upset is that Recca chose to be Yanagi's ninja and that Yanagi didn't even have to fight for with Recca. Kage sees Fuko's jealousy and gives her Fujin, which is the power of the win, with her elemental weapon, she goes and fights Recca and even Domon joins in. After the fight is over, they are all friends once again.

Mikagami Tokiya- His elemental element is Ensui, which is a sword that is made of water. Tokiya had a younger sister, but Kurei's men killed her seven years ago. Tokiya's sister looks almost exactly like Yanagi. Kage uses Tokiya's anger over his sisters death to make Tokiya think that Recca had something to do with it. After Recca and Tokiya fight, Tokiya tells Recca that if anything ever happens to Yanagi, that he will kill Recca. Tokiya is a year older than Fuko, Domon, and Recca and acts as though he despises fighting with them.

Koganei Kaoru- Koganei's elemental weapon is Kougan Anki, which is a weapon that has many different forms and stages, not only that, but he is also a master of his weapon. He is also only in junior high. When we first meet Koganei he is a member of Kurei's forces, but Kurei allows him to go fight on his own and Koganei ends up joining Recca's team.

What I Thought About Flame of Recca.

Animation- I like the animation was very well done. It added a lot to the show. Not a whole lot to say about this. It was just overall good animation.

Music- I enjoyed the music a lot. The opening and closing themes were very well done and you find yourself enjoying them greatly. When I watched the first episode the opening theme was the first thing I saw and this caused me to like the series instantly. The background music for this anime was also very well done.

Plot- A lot of people have problems with this anime because of the second season. The first season of this anime led you to believe that it would finish out and be awesome all the way through. The character development and ideas that were put into the first season were amazing. With the second season, though, all idea seemed to come to a stop and a fighting tournament was put in as the basis of the story. While I still enjoyed the fighting tournament, it had its downsides. All of the opponents of Team Hokage were barely developed before they were defeated and had to leave the anime. While I still enjoyed both series, the second season can be viewed as a bit of a let down from season 1.

Animation: A
Music: A
Plot: B
Overall: A-

Overall Thoughts- Well, basically read my thoughts about the plot. This anime could have been better and the thing is that I already think it is a great anime. The first season made us think that this was going to be one great anime and then to a certain extent the second and final season let us down. So, I highly recommened watching this anime, but it could have been better. --------------------------------------------------------
