Top Ten
#10: Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals: Now this
is how you do Final Fantasy. While the animation was
the greatest, it was still a lot better then Sony's
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (then again, so is
the plague). This one is based on Final Fantasy V
and really shows off the Final Fantasy world.
#9: Dragon Ball Z: Straight one of my favorites.
Granted, this seems to the the anime every so-called
fan seems to love above all else as the greatest
series ever. I feel it's still a great series, even
if the FUNimation dub is bad at times. Hell, the
edited dub is bad all the time.
#8: Devil Hunter Yohko: Boy crazy teenage girl
becomes the 108th generation of her family of Devil
Hunters. This one has somewhat of a Sailor Moon feel
to it, but unlike Sailor Moon, the fights aren't
stop motion while listening to the heroine screaming
like an extra form a horror movie and don't end by
smacking the monster with a tiara.
#7: Bastard!: Two words: Dark Schneider. When the
man hero of the story is a guy who tried to take
over the world simply because he could, you know you
got a winner. The guy maybe a complete jerk, but
he's a likeable jerk.
#6: Berserk: Sword fighting, medieval combat and
more blood then all Mortal Kombats combined. It's a
really well done series that works as kind of a
preview of the manga, but hell I was sold by episode
one. There was a Dreamcast game a few years ago
based on it "Sword of the Berserk".
#5: Anything by Myazaki: This man is the master, bow
to him. Each time this guy throws out a film, it's
obvious why they compare him to Walt Disney. By far
simply the best in the bunsiness.
#4: Slayers: This was second series that I really
started to follow. It has a solid backstory behind
it, and builds on itself with every series. It has
great characters and a nice mix of action and
comedy, and is able to capture a moment so perfectly
regardless of what it is. It also helps that the
filler episodes of the series still retain a focus
on the central plot.
#3: Dragon Half: What happens when you mix exstacy,
caffine and a little smack together with art
supplies? You get this. This is by far one of the
most messed up thing I have ever seen and I loved
ever crazy minute.
#2: Vampire Hunter D/Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust: I
love the concept of a half-vampire hunting his own
kind, knowing one day he may be hunted himself. D
is such a great tragic character that you really
like to follow the story. That and a talking smart
ass left hand and sword as long as a truck ain't bad
either.
#1: Ranma 1/2: This was the first series I really
got into. There is no comparison to this and Tenchi
in my book. Ranma 1/2 is that completely idiotic
comedy mixed with periods of action. What amazes me
most about this is that despite all the zanniness,
it still retains a coherent plot and storyline.
