Written by: Shiro the Commander Note to the Reader: I'd kill myself if I had to decide on which anime I like more so there aren't any rankings on either my Anime Series or Anime Movies list. Anime Series: Trigun- I don't like it as much as I used to though, but I still like it. Some of the scenes still make me laugh and I like how evil some of the characters are in the series. I don't like it how Vash continues to follow Rem's ideals all the time in some moments. Unlike several people I really liked the music in this series as well. Ranma 1/2- They could of done less with some of the filler and have fewer episodes. Other than that I find several episodes hilarious and long laughs for me. Some of the opening/ending themes are quite nice and get stuck in my head for hours. Hellsing- The animation is quite nice in some of the episodes and Alucard is completly bad ass. There are quite a bit of nice action sequences. The music is quite relaxing to listen to and the dub acting is quite talented in my opinion. Although the ending needs some fixing or either that I need to rewatch the ending. Cowboy Bebop- There has to be way too many better written descriptions on why people like this series so much. The animation is some of the most beautiful I've seen in an anime. The characters are all pretty much likable and even some of the side characters were pretty good. The dub has some excellent voice acting as well. Every single episode ending was well written some how and there is excellent script in the majority of the series. The episodes revolving around Vicious/Spike's mafia days were what I consider masterpieces as well. And who couldn't love the music done by Yoko Kanno? Onegai Teacher- To be honest I was attracted to the fact there could be a lot of fan service in this series lol. It turned out to be an enjoyable romance in an anime that I didn't mind watching. The animation is top notch with some bright non-dull colors. The opening theme is quite nice and there was a balanced amount of comical scenes. There could of been more fan service though lol. Boogiepop Phantom- I love how sick and twisted this evil 13 episode series is as it develops. At first it took me awhile to realize how the episodes were shown. Each episode being shown by a different character's point of view was quite interesting. The gorey murders/cruel deaths were great to watch "for me at least". The dark tone to the animation just added more to the creepy tone. The music fit the tone quite well also and the opening/ending theme were really nice songs. Serial Experiments Lain- I had to really pay attention to this series in order to understand which I didn't mind doing. Pretty much it was the most enjoyable Mind F**K series I have ever seen. Also considering the age of the series the animation is some of the most beautiful I've seen in awhile. The detail in the background gives an eerie feeling and the colors are quite bright. I didn't expect the animation to turn out so well done. The music is some of the best techno/rave music in an anime. The music just fits the tone and some of the techno music played in the club Cyberia is hair raising. Magical Shopping Arcade Abenoboshi- This series is full of parodies/spoofs/references that I noticed right away. Several of the spoofs made me laugh my ass off for quite a long time. The opening/ending themes are sung by Megumi Hayashibara "nuff said". Shiro Sagisu composes some nice music as well considering his other works. It was simply fun for me to watch considering my prior experiences in anime/Japanese culture. Although the ending needed work and some episodes are good only once. FLCL- I like this more than Abenoboshi. The insanity was just more well paced and the ending was great. Some beautiful scenery especially during the scene when "Hybrid Rainbow" played in the background. There is a lot of nicely done artwork throughout the series. The two manga scenes were just hilarious and unexpected. The Pillows did some great memorable songs/music that I wouldn't mind getting stuck in my head. And of course a lot of laughs that I never get tired of as time passes on. Neon Genesis Evangelion- I first wanted to see this series judging by the original dvd previews that it was a lot of mecha action. The comedy is enjoyable as well. Although it turned out to be more than a typical mecha anime after several episodes. The psychological disturbances among the characters is just nice to watch as time passes on. The animation is really top notch "well in Platinum editions at least". Sadamoto does some excellent character designs and Sagisu composes some excellent music. The choice of music is perfect "love the classical music in the end of the series". Its just a really great series which I'll probably never stop enjoying. Anime Movies: Spriggan- This movie has just about everything needed in an action packed shooter. Rooftop fighting, overkills with mini guns, suicide bombers, car chases, and lots of other gory goodies. The animation was extremely well done and top notch. Lots of well done action sequences and not one dull moment. Graphic enjoyment at some of its best. Ninja Scroll- Ah yes the infamous Ninja Scroll movie. Some of the scenes were so sick and wrong I loved it lol. So much graphic samurai action sequences that kept my eyes open the whole time. The animation is top notch considering the year it was made as well. The villains look so evil it was just great to see them get sliced up. Don't watch this with your parents lol. Trust and Betrayal: Director's Cut- Okay so its a collection of OVAs, but the Director's Cut is all fused togethe like a movie so yeah lol. I could care less for the tv series at the moment, but I love Trust and Betrayal. It has some beautiful animation and action sequences. A gorey and tragic romance occurs and brought some tears to my eyes at the end. Music fits the depressing tone quite well also. Char's Counterattack- Holy S**t what a sweet mecha movie. The action sequences are no doubt some of the best mecha scenes I've seen in anime. The character/mobile suit designs are well detailed and just great to watch in action. Its the finale of Char vs Amuro and you can't say you are a U.C Gundam fan til you see it. Tenchi in Love 1- I really think they should change the title of the movie. I don't know what it should be renamed though. Anyways...... a really great Tenchi movie in my opinion. Some nice action sequences and hilarious moments I expect from the Tenchi series. The animation is pretty much top notch as well. The orchestra music done is quite relaxing to the ears as well. Akira- The manga I'm sure is better but the movie is still pretty damn good. A groundbreaking movie that was pretty much the turning point in it's time of theatrical release. Top notch action sequences for the time period as well graphic scenes. I love the background music in the movie especially "Kaneda's Theme" during the opening scenes. Spirited Away- For one thing to understand its from Miyazaki and Studio Ghilbi. So it should be worth watching and this film definitly is worth my time. The animation is nothing less of what I expected from Studio Ghilbi. Nor is the storytelling and fantasy that people walk into during Miyazaki directed movies. Some excellent work was done for this movie and deserved every single award it earned. Watching it made me want to feel like a kid again temporarily. Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven's Door- Nothing less of what I expected considering it is Cowboy Bebop. The animation is much better compared to the anime series. Yoko Kanno simply does another excellent job in the music department. The voice acting is top notch yet again and the plot is quite interesting. Some real nice comical scenes and action sequences throughout the film. End of Evangelion- This film is pretty much Anno's up yours to all the fans who sent him death threats considering the original series' ending. This movie has some excellent detailed artwork/animation. The action sequences are quite graphic and nice to look at. Plenty of twisted and evil secrets Anno left are in the movie "I'd never have noticed some if it weren't for the commentaries". The musical score is relaxing yet disturbing at the same time which is perfect for the tone of the movie. Anno answered questions yet left more which I don't mind seeing as how Evangelion isn't an anime which will be great if everything was answered. Complete physiological madness that was worth my time to watch. Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade- The character designs are what I consider different and unique compared to the typical anime. This movie is pretty much the most beautifully evil story of "Little Red Riding Hood" ever. A lot of dialogue that needs full attention which didn't bother me much. A really complex masterpiece with plenty of gore and careful pacing. The musical score fits the depressing tone excellently and couldn't be better. Thanks for your time if you read at least some of my list. |
