Pojo's Top 10 Anime

Shnordelphlaps's top 10 anime list:
----------------------------------------
January 2008

10. Naruto:
I think everyone knows the basis of this anime.  It's considered childish by some, but I find it very interesting and involving.

9. Yu Yu Hakusho
Not often do you find an anime where the main character dies in the first episode.  Yusuke Urameshi strikes a deal with lord Koenma, ruler of spirit world, letting him come back to life on the condition that he becomes the new spirit detective.  It's full of action, it's got some romance, and a lot of comedy, due to the numerous smart-ass comments made by the main character throughout the series.  It's 112 episodes long, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's into action-type anime.

8. FullMetal Panic?Fumoffu!
I haven't gotten far into the original FullMetal Panic, but this is a funny, romantic 12-episode series about the two main characters, Sosuke Sagara and Kaname Chidori.  Sosuke has been hired as Kaname's bodyguard, and he constantly follows her around through their high school, carrying numerous large weapons that he stores god-knows-where and pulls out any time he feels like Kaname is in danger, which is pretty much every moment of every day.  I'm not sure about the main series(FullMetal Panic!), but I really like this short series.  It's funny and romantic.

7. .Hack//(SIGN, LIMINALITY, DUSK, and ROOTS)
I can't really say I like one individual .Hack series the most, because they all tie into each other, forming one big story.  You have to read all the novels, play all the video games, and watch each of the four serieses to get the whole picture, but that's what makes it fun.  I would recommend this series(or serieses) to anyone who likes sci-fi anime...and who is patient and likes very(VERY) deep plots.

6. FullMetal Alchemist
There are quite a few "Top 10" lists out there with this one somewhere on them.  It really is a great series involving two brothers and their struggle to get the younger brother's body back using alchemy, which, ironically, he lost while trying to revive his dead mother using alchemy.  It's a really great series that runs for 52 episodes and is recommended to those who like sci-fi/action anime.

5. Cowboy Bebop
This series follows four bounty hunters and their dog--Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, Ed(can't recall her last name at the moment), and Ein(the dog)--as they travel through space busting small-time criminals for money, and barely getting by with what they have.  It has a lot of action and comedy, but there are also deeper plots that follow the four main characters as the series progresses.  I would recommend this series to people who like action, comedy, or romance.

4. Marmalade Boy
I guess you couldn't tell by the name I gave you, but I'm a boy.  And call me weird, but I have a thing for romance anime, and I think this series is awesome.  The two main characters are Miki(can't remember her last name) and Yu Matsura.  They are kinda in the same family, since their parents are weird and decided to move into one big house together and switch partners.  It follows quite a few other characters as well, but I feel safe calling them the main characters.  It's a very charming(I can't believe I just used that word) anime, and it has quite a few laughs mixed in, as well.

3. Welcome to the NHK
Here's an anime that I've never seen on anyone else's list.  It's about a 22-year-old boy named Sato Tatsuhiro, who is a hikikomori, and his new friend Misaki Nakahara who wants to help rid him of his hikikomori ways.  It's a very down-to-earth anime, sort of like a soap opera, only much better.  I would recommend this series to anyone who likes straight-up romance.

2. Love Hina
This is another romance series about a 20- or 21-year-old boy named Keitaro Urashima and his experiences with the resident's of the Hinata all-girls dormatory--the place he just happens to be living.  I'm not going to go into details right now, just watch it--it's worth it, especially for those who like romantic comedies where anything can happen.

1. Azumanga Daioh
Yes, this is my absolute favorite.  It has basically no plotline, it is simply about a group of high school girls--Chiyo, Tomo, Yomi, Osaka, Sakaki, Kagura, Kaorin, and more--their teachers--Miss Yukari, Miss Kurosawa, and Mr. Kimura--and a bunch of other random people(and strange creatures) that they meet.  Chiyo is a 10-year-old who advanced to high school.  She's easily influenced and cries any time one of her classmates teases her, which adds to the hilarity of the series.  I believe Tomo has ADHD, although they never come right out and say it in the series.  She is always making fun of her best friend, Yomi, for being slightly overweight.  Ayumu(Osaka, to her classmates) transferred from Osaka.  She has a strange accent and is not quite all there upstairs.  Sakaki is a quiet, shy, very athletic girl who often daydreams about cute things.  Although her classmates see her as a cool, collected person, her room is filled with cutesy, girly things such as stuffed animals.  She loves cats, but does not have one of her own, due to her mother's allergy.  Kagura sees Sakaki as her rival and is constantly challenging her to various competitions, although she always loses.  Kaorin has a crush on Sakaki, which is fairly obvious, although noone in the anime realizes it.  Miss Yukari is the homeroom teacher for these girls.  She is very immature and loves to go out and get drunk with Miss Kurosawa, much to the latter's dismay.  She is also a terrible driver.  Miss Kurosawa is the girl's gym teacher, and is always looking after Miss Sakaki.  And, last and least, Mr. Kimura, a homeroom teacher for another class and a huge pervert who is constantly looking in on the girls while they are in gym class and asking them various strange, creepy questions.  It's a hilarious anime and I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates a good laugh--which should be everyone.
