Number 4 has for us one of the best Link-4s we have today in Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess.

Apollousa is a Link-4 WIND Fairy with ? ATK and arrows pointing all downwards and the lone up arrow. The ATK comes from however many monsters you use as Link Material times 800, so at most it can become 3200 ATK and will most likely be either 2400 or 3200 when you summon it, WIND is still sadly the weakest attribute, but Fairy is somewhat promising. The summoning requirements are any 2+ monsters with different names that aren’t Tokens, and it’s fairly easy to change monsters with the same name into a Link Monster just for the different name, it’s fairly simple to summon. Once per chain, as a Quick Effect, when the opponent activates a monster effect you can negate that effect by debuffing this monster by 800 ATK. Monster negation can be fairly powerful, especially when a card can negate multiple effects like this can. At most you can negate 4 effects with this, but after like 2 negations your opponent might be likely to summon something with more than 1600 ATK to kill this thing. It’s good negation, which is fair to have the clause that you can only control 1 of her, cause otherwise you can get a max of 12 monster negations if you somehow got 3 on the field using 4 materials each. It’s a great boss-like monster in the game and gives good competition to Saryuja, Borreload, and Borrelsword as powerful Link-4s.

Art: 5/5 Might arguably be the best art of the year.

My #4: Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess

Hello Pojo Fans,

Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess is one of my favorite new cards and strikes a pose at the #4 spot for the year.

Link 4 needing two or more monsters (no go on tokens), easy enough to summon. ATK depending on how many monsters you used for the Link Summon x 800, alongside the negation ability reminds me of one of my all-time favorite monsters: Light and Darkness Dragon. It would be much better if Apollousa could negate any card effect, but monster effects have heavy priority in the game right now and this card can put your opponent in a rough spot. You want to use at least three monsters to summon her and you want to sit on her effect and use it when it is absolutely necessary. It also doesn’t destroy the monster (something LaDD did) which is also a problem. Will negating the effect shut down the opponent’s turn? Will it force them to use more resources? Apollousa is a skill card that can be a finisher for the duel because she can lockout your opponent from getting anything through. Late game you could afford to use two monsters to summon her, but if you can use four, use four. Being able to negate more than once per turn makes her a fantastic control card.

My #4:  Borreload Savage Dragon
This cards position on my list:  N/A but she ALMOST made the back end

Apollousa is a beefy Link Monster with all kinds of potential.  A Fairy/Wind Monster, with ? attack and arrows pointing directly above and below, as well to the respective bottom diagonals.  A Link Summon here is performed by 2+ Effect Monsters with different names (excluding Tokens).  So, she great on the Field alone, better in multiples even if you can invest into getting 2 or 3 on the Field.

So, each Monster used for Link Summon becomes 800 attack…three puts a semi-solid 2400 but if you can invest 4, Apollousa is going to be a powerhouse at 3200.  So, you’re only allowed to control one of these, no big deal, it’s a common stipulation on boss Monsters.  The effect reminds me of Light and Darkness Dragon.  Once a Chain, when your opponent activates a Monster effect, you can negate it by dropping 800 attack.

If successful, said effect is negated.  Also makes it all the more important that used 4 Monsters.  I like that it’s Once per Chain, not Once per TURN, so there’s some wiggle room there.  It’s simple, but easy enough to be powerful, the negation is equally easy to use, and can potentially be used multiple times.  A little protection here wouldn’t hurt, but she should fare well, even in a crowded Extra Deck.

Rating:  4.5/5

Art:  5/5 just magnificent.  She is gorgeous, I love the beast (I think that’s a bear) her bow is beautiful too, and the background works so well with the bear (again, I think) and the color of her hair.
