Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess finishes the week in a fantastic way.

Can’t use tokens, which puts her at a disadvantage against many of the Link 4’s out there. Different names shouldn’t be too hard to come by. You get 800ATK for each monster used in the Link Summon. If you use the max you will have a 3200 beatstick, but this effect also makes it useless to Special Summon Apollousa from the grave. Why is she so good though? Her effect. Negation of a monster effect once per chain is fantastic. The game depends more on monster effects now than ever, and to negate one during each chain slows down your opponent. She loses 800ATK each time you do this, so you can get up to 4 negations. This reminds me of LaDD (one of my favorite monsters) however LaDD destroyed the card it negated, also it negated any card effect, not only monsters. Apollousa only negates but doesn’t destroy, leaving your opponent with a resource.

I think for such an investment in terms of materials for her summon, and the loss in ATK, Apollousa should be able to negate everything. A Link 4 may be easier to summon at times than a two tribute, but no protection against spell/trap takes her down a peg.

Love this card still, but her potential could’ve been higher.

We end the week with one of the cards given the new rarity in Rising Rampage, Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess.

Apollousa is a Link-4 WIND Fairy with ? ATK and arrows pointing Up and all to the Bottom. Once again the ? ATK means it gets ATK through an effect, being WIND and Fairy feels odd, but those arrows are great even if I’d want to move that Up arrow to being a Left/Right one. The summoning requirements are any 2+ monsters with different names that aren’t Tokens, so Saryuja’s summoning requirement minus the Token restriction, which it’s easy to change Tokens into something that isn’t a Token with other Link Monsters. You can only control 1 Apollousa, which will probably be a good thing with the effect she has. The original ATK of this card is 800 times the number of monsters used to summon this thing. You’d probably want to use at least 3 monsters then to have this have a respectable 2400 ATK, though you’d prefer to use 4 if you can to have a great 3200 ATK stat. Once per chain, as a Quick Effect, when a monster effect is activated by the opponent, you can make this card lose 800 ATK and negate that effect. Sure it doesn’t destroy the monster, but it can at least negate hand traps so the lack of destruction doesn’t matter. It losing 800 ATK every time you use the effect is a main reason why you want to use as many monsters as possible for it, cause it can lose ATK value fast, but in return you can negate important monster effects. It isn’t a once per turn either, so you can keep doing it till it has 0 ATK in a single turn, which is probably why there’s the restriction of you only being able to control 1 of these. If you use 4 monsters for this, you’ll probably only get 2 negates before this goes to 1600 ATK and your opponent can easily run over it at that point, worse case you might only get one negate if they can get over 2400 ATK, but I respect that this can use its effect more if it somehow gets more ATK than what it’ll start off with after being Link Summoned. Apollousa is a good Link Monster for negation and those arrows are great, so I feel this can be good to have in your Link-4 arsenal considering there’s a lot of great competition already.

Art: 5/5 It looks completely stunning, better in the new rarity (at this point I don’t know if Bill will replace the one I put with the new rarity or not though, I just put a regular Secret cause that’s most likely what he’ll keep).

Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess (this is one of those pictures we’re going to take a second and stare at and go ‘awwwe’) is a Link 4 Monster, Wind, and a Fairy who has Link Arrows pointing directly above and below, as well as the respective bottom diagonals.  Link Summon is performed her by 2+ Monsters with different names, excluding Tokens.

So, each Monster used for Link Summon becomes 800 attack…three puts a semi-solid 2400 but if you can invest 4, Apollousa is going to be a powerhouse at 3200.  So, you’re only allowed to control one of these, no big deal, it’s a common stipulation on boss Monsters.  The effect reminds me of Light and Darkness Dragon.  Once a Chain, when your opponent activates a Monster effect, you can negate it by dropping 800 attack.

If successful, said effect is negated.  Also makes it all the more important that used 4 Monsters.  I like that it’s Once per Chain, not Once per TURN, so there’s some wiggle room there.  It’s simple, but easy enough to be powerful, the negation is equally easy to use, and can potentially be used multiple times.  A little protection here wouldn’t hurt, but she should fare well, even in a crowded Extra Deck.

Art:  5/5 just magnificent.  She is gorgeous, I love the beast (I think that’s a bear) her bow is beautiful too, and the background works so well with the bear (again, I think) and the color of her hair.
