Arcana Extra Joker
– #CT15-EN006
Once per turn, when a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, is activated that targets this face-up card on the field and/or a monster(s) it points to (Quick Effect): You can discard the same type of card (Monster, Spell, or Trap); negate the activation. When this Link Summoned card is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 Warrior Normal Monster from your Deck, and if you do, add 1 Level 4 Warrior monster from your Deck to your hand.

Crunch$G Looks like we are looking at some of the rest of the Tin Promos this week, all of which are new to the TCG and were imported from the OCG. Starting off with the Link Monster in the Nebula Neos tin that isn’t the HERO Link, that’ll be in the Hero Decks, Arcana Extra Joker. AEJ is a Link-3 LIGHT Warrior with 2800 ATK, requires 3 Warrior monsters with different names, and has arrows pointing Up, Bottom Left, and Bottom Right. ATK is great on a Link-3, and LIGHT/Warrior is a good combination since LIGHT is always good and Warriors seem to be popular right about now. Arrows are average on a Link-3 when they don’t want all the arrows going down, but the summoning requirements can be steep. 3 Warriors with different names isn’t too hard, but it would of been nice for it to be 2+ Warriors with different names. Once per turn (Quick Effect), when a Spell/Trap card or monster effect is activated that targets this face-up card and/or a monster this card points to, you can discard the same type of card (Monster, Spell, Trap) to negate the activation. It already asks for 3 monsters to summon, more specifically 3 Warriors with different names, do we really need the discard to negate something? Also, why only negate what targets this or a monster it points to? It could of been more powerful considering the summoning requirement. When this Link Summoned card is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 Warrior Normal Monster from you deck and add 1 Level 4 Warrior from the deck to your hand. Well clearly this is meant to work with Jack’s, Queen’s, and King’s Knights, which are not too good of cards, and neither is Arcana Knight Joker, which does the same as Extra Joker’s first effect, only when AKJ is targeted and not something it points to since it isn’t a Link. Also, destroyed by battle on a 2800 body? It is more likely to leave by a card effect, also having to go to the GY… well that is most likely happening, but it sucks when you can’t get this off when it is banished. Arcana Extra Joker honestly isn’t too great, there are better Link Monsters to play. Use all your Warriors for Isolde and Summon Sorceress. Alex Searcy This week, I decided we’d look at a few other cards from the Mega Tins (as well as a never looked at card for Throwback Thursday, and Friday for that matter, in different gears). Arcana Extra Joker, who is similar to, yet different from Arcana Knight Joker, opens the week. Knight is a Fusion, specifically of Kings, Queens, and Jacks Knight (and has 3800 attack). Both are Light, and Warrior, but Extra is a Link 3 Monster, generically needing three differently named Warriors (ironically, the same three above will fit) and still having a very nice 2800 attack. Arrows here point directly above, and to the diagonal bottom left and right, respectively. Both these Monsters state fairly similar effects, here it’s a Quick effect (and not a once per turn, like his brother) where if a card this card is Linked to is targeted by effect (Monster, Magic or Trap) you can discard one of the same type of card, to negate the activation. It’s a good effect, even though we don’t often/always look at discard negation as good things (Dark Paladin, ironically, comes to mind). When Extra is destroyed by Battle and sent to the Graveyard, (having been Link Summoned only) you can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower NORMAL Warrior Monster from your Hand…and if you do that, you can add any Level 4 or lower Warrior Monster from your Deck to your Hand. Very specific on how he has to be destroyed and where he goes, but he can replace himself, as well as giving you another option to your Hand. They’re trying to keep this specifically to Kings/Queens/Jacks without specifically requiring them it seems, which I’m fine with. This guy needs a Warrior Deck, very likely involving those three, and you want to keep your Hand large so you can use the effect and be negating things, since it isn’t limited to once per turn. I do feel this could be a fun Deck to play, but himself, he probably isn’t going to be a center of a Tier 1 Deck anytime soon. But you never know. Rating: 3.25/5 Art: 5/5 These Knights do tend to have nice card art, and this is the best so far, imo |
