WarlockBlitz Did Tribe Infecting Virus find its way off the ban list? If so this would make for good replenishment for that effect. Anyway, Atlantean Dragoons is a Level 4 Water Sea Serpent-type monster with 1800 Atk and 0 Def. You definitely want this with the Atlantis Field Spell out so this can attack directly with 2000 Atk. All Level 3 or lower Sea Serpents benefit from the effect. Then, If Atlantean Dragoons is used to activate a Water monster’s effect, you can search any Sea Serpent from the deck to the hand. Searching effects are good. 2 effects on one monster are also good. But Mermail/Atlanteans are not that great right now. If that changes, keep the set of this card in good condition, because it is a good card. But since it’s not versatile, it gets a good score, not a great one. Score: 3.5/5 Art: 4/5 |
Crunch$G For this week, we are looking at cards that moved on the May 21st, 2018 Forbidden and Limited List, which I believe it has been a while since we’ve done something like this. Starting off this week is a card that went from 1 to 2 to now 3 over time because of its power in the Mermail Atlantean Deck, Atlantean Dragoons. Atlantean Dragoons is a Level 4 WATER Sea Serpent with 1800 ATK and 0 DEF. ATK is good and makes up for a poor DEF stat. WATER is a well supported type and Sea Serpent works well with Fish and Aqua support from time to time. While Dragoons is on the field, all of your face-up Level 3 or lower Sea Serpents can attack directly. If you have A Legendary Ocean on the field, this is a Level 3 2000 ATK body that can attack directly, but I don’t recommend that unless your deck is dedicated to Umi and its variants. Dragoons can allow Atlantean Marksman to get a direct attack and Marksman in return can summon something like Neptabyss, Heavy Infantry, or another Dragoons. The selling point on all of the Atlanteans that isn’t Neptabyss though is the other effect they each have. If Dragoons is sent to the GY to activate the effect of a WATER monster, you can add a Sea Serpent from your deck to your hand except another Altantean Dragoons. All of the other Atlanetans are Sea Serpents, including the ever-so-important Neptabyss. Mermail Abyssmegalo is also a Sea Serpent, which is a good boss monster to get off this. Deep Sea Diva is a great Sea Serpent monster and it is nice to search it considering it is currently limited. This card help makes the WATER decks much faster, and they already had solid consistency, this just makes it way more viable. Dragoons is a 3 of in any Mermail Atlantean variant now that it is back to three. Advanced Rating: 4.5/5 Art: 3.5/5 Soldiers of the Sea! We must invade the Isles of the Fire Kings! |
Alex Searcy Welcome to a Ban List week, things go into effect the 21st (today) so we’ll be looking at cards that had minor changes here on the list. Atlantean Dragoons is a card that use to be relevant in a Deck that also, use to be relevant. Moving from Semi-Limited to Unlimited, and after far too long a time, but here we are. This is still great Water support though. All your (face-up) Level 3 or lower Sea Serpents can attack directly, and when you use this card in combo as a Water ability, you get a Sea Serpent from your Deck. The 1800 attack is great too, honestly, the only true downside here is the big fat 0 defense. If Water/Atlanteans whatever, become Tier 1 again, this guy might find his way back, but no reason not to have three in the present. Rating: 4/5 Art: 4/5 |
