Saikyo Cardfighter R Doppel Vampir is rolling in the grave. This is just too easy to set up and too hard to defend against. Not on any turn without Dust mind, the opponent can just chuck a G Guardian its way, so this thing is reserved until you need to retrieve it with new Scharhrot, whereupon you just make 3 bullshit attacks to kill the opponent. Outside of Dust though, it makes a handy-dandy partner with Balaam so that ONLY G Guardians can block him, in case you can’t Stride Dust yet. Without new Scharhot, this would be a lot less useful as it wouldn’t be ready when needed otherwise and holding it back would mean offence will suck. As it stands, it’s a staple. 3/5 |
What’s up, Rogue Squad?! As we wrap up Cheap Week, we get to have a look at, what I consider, one of the best commons this set has given us. While it does put Dopple Vampir our of work, it’s for multiple reasons. While a drawback is that it can’t activate its effect unless you have eight or more cards in your Soul compared to Doppel’s six for his first effect (though let’s face it: Dark Irregulars can do that by their first Stride anyway), that’s all that Doppel has over Baleful as Baleful gets a 10k boost versus Doppel’s 5k and gets his Silent Tom effect at the same time instead of at 15 cards in the Soul. Having Baleful out on the field during a GB3 Balaam, or Dust turn is the best case scenario play as it’ll put your opponent in an awkward situation in regards to guarding as they’ll need Grade 2’s or G Guardians during the Balaam turn or a Perfect Guard or an abundance of Grade 1’s for the Dust turn (not including the amount of shield they’d need to block Dust alone at 1 power or a second Perfect Guard). To put it simply, make room for Baleful, especially if you’re playing Scharhrot. Rating: 4/5 Artwork: 4/5 Next Time: An old archetype that was Meta in the past comes back for a week to haunt us. Go Rogue…Go Pro…and Fight the Meta!!! |
