Hello Pojo Fans,
Battlin’ Boxing Cross Counter was mentioned yesterday as the best potential Spell/Trap target the archetype has, and I think it is.
This Counter Trap may not be the archetype’s “Solemn” card (that goes to Jolt Counter), but it is far more flexible than Jolt Counter, as it can be activated outside the Battle Phase. Give up a Battlin’ Boxer or a Numbers Xyz you have to negate and destroy a monster activating an effect is pretty good and pretty standard…it’s Solmen Strike without the LP. Now, being able to Special Summon a Battlin’ Boxer or Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck while attaching Cross Counter as a material makes it an even better choice than Strike for the archetype. Not only is it searchable, but replacing the destroyed Battlin’ Boxer with one of your archetype Xyz Monsters puts you at an advantage, especially with Cross Counter attaching and making any detach effects live.
Jot Counter can protect in the Battle Phase, but so can King Dempsey with its targeting protection. Cross Counter cheats out another Xyz Monster while negating an opponent’s monster and destroying it. You break even at the very least, but what you do with the Xyz Battlin’ Boxer you summon is up to you.

Battlin’ Boxers are known for their use of Counter Traps in the anime, so it’s nice to see we get a new one in this support line with Battlin’ Boxing Cross Counter.
Cross Counter of course is a Counter Trap where when the opponent activates a monster effect, you destroy a Battlin’ Boxer or Number Xyz you control to negate the activation, destroy that monster, then you can summon any Battlin’ Boxer Xyz from your Extra Deck with a different name from the initial monster and then attach this as material. Good negation for monster effects first off, the archetype can already access Flamvell Counter now for more of a Solemn Judgment like effect. Destroying a monster only really benefits Number 79 (and even then that requires to be destroyed by an opponent’s card), and protecting your monster with Lead Yoke will fizzle out the negation. In return, you do get an easier way to summon Number 105 than using 3 monsters, or you can make King Dempsey to get to more cards you need. Hard once per turn on this, which is fine. It’s a solid Counter Trap and probably the best one built for the Battlin’ Boxer archetype being in mind. Play a copy since it’s searchable and recoverable, it can be useful.

Another addition to the Battlin’ Boxer backrow, Battlin’ Boxing Cross Counter is a Counter Trap (as its name implies) and can be searched by Battlin’ Boxer Uppercutter and Battlin’ Boxer King Dempsey, who graciously searches Battlin’ Boxing cards. Cross Counter can only be activated once per turn and has a lot of text for one effect. In response to an opponent’s monster effect activation, you can destroy any Battlin’ Boxer or Number monster you control to negate the effect and destroy that monster. If that’s successful, you can Special Summon any Battlin’ Boxer monster from your Extra Deck with a different name from the destroyed Battlin’ Boxer and attach Cross Counter to it as an Xyz material. One might think this would be a cute interaction with Battlin’ Boxer Lead Yoke, which can prevent itself from being destroyed, but because of how Cross Counter is worded, it will fail because Lead Yoke isn’t destroyed! That pretty much leaves any leftover Battlin’ Boxer jobbers you have as the best targets for Cross Counter, since you’ll probably want to keep King Dempsey alive (tragically). In terms of the best target, I struggle to say their new boss monster, because it does nothing with only one Xyz material. Your best bet, ironically, is probably Lead Yoke, since it’s the best Battlin’ Boxer that only needs one Xyz material, but if you somehow have a Rank-Up Magic Spell ready, Number 104: Battlin’ Boxer Star Cestus and Number 79: Battlin’ Boxer Nova Kaiser aren’t bad choices since they’ll be ready to Rank up if they miraculously survive your opponent’s turn. Of off King Dempsey, this is probably the only backrow worth searching, and Uppercutter might as well search Flamvell Counter, which arguably gives much more value than this card.
