Hello Pojo Fans,

Beetrooper Fly & Sting is one of the two (so far) Spell/Trap cards for the archetype.

Counter Trap to negate and destroy monster(s) that activate effect(s). Every archetype wishes they had a Counter Trap that does this, and many many do, but some don’t have the “destroy” or the “negate” present, having both is what you want. Only hoop to jump through is needing a Beetrooper and you will have one, so no troubles there. Banish an Insect from the grave to reset this makes it a continuously revolving Counter Trap of negation for you. Your grave will likely always have a target to banish and as long as you have an Insect with 3000ATK or more on the field you can recycle this card. Your archetype Link Monster I’ve spoken about so much has 3000ATK. Currently though there are only four monsters that are Insect-Type and have 3000 base ATK with several painfully close to the mark. Despite that, this card is a must in the archetype and will be played in a playset, making it likely you’ll see another copy.

Not much else to say: great trap for the archetype.

Now for probably the better of the two cards to search off of Sting Lancer: Beetrooper Fly & Sting.

Fly & Sting is a Counter Trap that negates an opponent’s activation of a monster effect and destroys said monster, just as long as you control a Beetrooper monster. Monster effect negation good to have for any archetype, though I would of wished this negated anything instead of just monster effects. I guess again we’re trying to keep things a little more balanced. Especially since we got a second effect where you can reset this card from the graveyard by banishing an Insect monster, just as long as you control an Insect with 3000 or more ATK. There aren’t many of them, but the new one Beetroopers provided at least gives you one worth running to make use of the second effect. Only being able to use one effect a turn and only once that turn is a bummer, but it doesn’t take away from the value this card offers you in Beetroopers to provide the negation you’re already lacking playing Insects. 100% have this for your Sting Lancer to search.

Speaking of…Fly & Sting, this is a Continuous Trap, only requiring you to control a Theme Monster when your opponent activates a Monster Effect.  Which should be able to be down about all the time (but like any Deck, there’s always going to be that instance it could catch you).  Doing so lets you Negate the Effect your opponent activates, and if you are successful, said card is destroyed.  So we have one of my patented favorites, an honest 1-for-1 there.  Leaning in your favor, of course, as you gave up a Trap, while your opponent lost a Monster.  If you control an Insect with attack over 3000 during your End Phase, and this resides in your Grave, you can Set it back to the Field.  Silly condition there, but ignoring that, as Ex Minion of Darkness use to say, your opponent will see this coming the second time, and either draw you into using it BEFORE you want to, or just play into it.  So I’m not so keen on the end there.  Also factoring you can only use one Effect OR the other each Turn, that really hurts the playability.  This card wouldn’t have been THAT over powered if you could do both; just only allow one copy to be used a Turn.  Anyway…

Rating:  2.5/5  The Effect negation is the best bet, and should be what you get from this all but guaranteed.  Anything after, is a bonus, in my opinion.

Art:  4.5/5  Now this I really adore.  This is one of those STARE AT pictures.
