Saikyo Cardfighter R So here’s new Gavrail. How does it stack up? Well, the Stride skill is Counterblast free, but only because it’s a +0 wash overall. It’s basically swapping damage, countercharging or just fetching something nice, and then leaving it to chance as to whether you gain any power from the transaction. As a general rule I’m not fond of Stride skills that either have diminishing returns or don’t give you straight advantage in some form, but it has utility and combo potential. The second GB2 skill is okay, but as always it’s held back by its keyword: there’s only like 2 decent G Units with Rescue. Vanquisher suffers from similar problems. Thankfully the Stride skill is generic enough to work with anything so there’s room to move G Zone-wise. You’re probably going to miss the defence with old Gavrail in exchange for more Rescue pieces, but she works. 3/5 |
KippForShort Following on the heels of many other Striders who provide discard-less Stride costs, Gavrail lets you Counterblast a single Rescue unit to do the same, as long as the G Unit you are Striding has the Rescue ability. When you Stride, you are also allowed to fix your hand a bit, fix your damage zone a bit, then rescue one. A solid card for what the deck is trying to do overall. 3.5/5 |
What’s up, Rogue Squad?! Well, it’s time for us to look at the new Gavrail G3 for Angel Feathers, and I have to say, while the lack of a solid defensive GB2 does hurt, overall, this is still a good card to backup on. The fact that it lets you stride with a simple Rescue Counterblast helps maintain a hand to work with the on Stride skill to, in simple terms, do a pseudo-Nociel hand damage swap and get a free Rescue out of it, and the great thing about Angel Feathers is that they really don’t care much about failed Rescue checks as they normally have skills that activate if they see a card hit the damage zone anyway, so it benefits the deck even more this way. If you’re playing Angel Feathers, then this is definitely a solid card to have as an ace unit. Rating: 3.5/5 Art: 4/5 Next time: Out with the old?
