Hello Pojo Fans,

Bottomless Trap Hole is our Throwback Thursday choice and one of those cards that has endured the test of time.

Simple Normal Trap that banishes a monster(s) your opponent summons with 1500 or more ATK. It does destroy first so if anything triggers off destruction alone it will activate, but you are banishing, so grave effects are taken out of the picture. This was one of the first, if not the first trap cards that dealth with multiple summons at once. In a day where Trap Hole, Mirror Force, and Sakaratsu Armor were all over in the meta, this came out an astonishing 20 years ago this summer! This has been a constant option for players who are facing multiple summons at once. Gladiator Beast Gyzarus and Dimensional Fusion, and of course Return from the Different Dimension, this card could halt your opponent and at times stop their entire turn. It saw a resurgence in play when Pendulum Summoning was a dominant part of the meta, but since banishing isn’t death for a player anymore, Bottomless Trap Hole’s play has fallen off once more.

It has always been a great, stable, powerful card. The more card effects that get created that summon multiple monsters at once, the more this card’s play will rise again. It will always be useful, even without negation power. It removes, covers multiple monsters at once, and can be used against pretty much every archetype/deck in the game.

Throwback Thursday this week builds up tomorrow’s card, which I’m sure you can guess after we already reviewed the new Runick and Vaylantz card, and is going to likely see more use in the future with impending Traptrix support: Bottomless Trap Hole.

Bottomless Trap Hole is a Normal Trap that you can activate when your opponent summons a monster(s) with 1500 or more ATK, letting you destroy and banish that monster(s). Still honestly a good effect to this day, especially if used against a summon of multiple monsters at once that would fall into this card’s requirements. Being a Trap Hole also does make it synergize with Traptrix perfectly, and removing a monster from the board makes it an option for Labrynth. One for one removal isn’t what it once was, especially when it needs to be activated at a certain time like Bottomless, which is why something like Compulse ages better. It’s still solid, and one of the better Trap Holes behind something like Floodgate Trap Hole and Gravedigger’s Trap Hole. It’s still perfect for Traptrix, so it’s a worthwhile inclusion in some Decks at least still.

Advanced Rating: 3.5/5

Art: 4.5/5 I wonder if it really is bottomless?

Bottomless Trap Hole…I remember being a supporter for this before it rose in popularity of use and only more or less as a Tech choice back in the early days of the game.  Now, the fact a card like this can remove from play a Monster (or Monsters) it hits with this is bigger and more important than ever.  Sure, there are more ways to retrieve your removed cards than there use to be, but it’s still a great thing to pop on the opponent.  Like other classic Traps, such as say, Mirror Force, BTH has seen many variations (which, itself, is a variant of the original Trap Hole).  It’s definitely still one of the best Trap Hole cards available to us, and if you have the room and need some extra removal in your Deck, go ahead and splash one or two of these in.  It should work well for you.

Rating:  4/5

Art:  4/5 too…looks like Hitotsume Giant is being eaten in this hole…which is a pic that even accurate to the criteria described in the card.
