Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Panda
– #FIGA-EN013
If you activate a “Fire Formation” Spell/Trap Card (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand, then you can Special Summon 1 “Fire Fist” monster from your GY, except “Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Panda”, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except “Fire Fist” monsters. If a “Fire Fist” monster(s) you control would be destroyed by your opponent’s card effect, you can send 1 face-up “Fire Formation” Spell/Trap you control to the GY instead. You can only use each effect of “Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Panda” once per turn.

Crunch$G Last week we started with Elephant, so this week we start off with the best card to search off Elephant and the only real playable Level 5 Fire Fist out of the three, Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Panda. Panda is a Level 5 FIRE Beast-Warrior with 2100 ATK and 400 DEF. Great ATK and DEF is low while sadly not low enough for Rekindling, but that doesn’t matter too much. If you activate a Fire Formation Spell/Trap (except during the Damage Step) you can Special Summon this card from your hand and then you can Special Summon any Fire Fist out the graveyard that isn’t Panda also you cannot Special Summon monsters outside Fire Fist monsters for the rest of the turn. Very easy to resolve this effect just by activating a Tenki or Tensu and the revival makes it much better to get back Rooster or Ram for their Special Summon abilities I’ve mentioned before or to just get back a generally good Fire Fist like Dragon, Raven, Bear, Gorilla, etc. The restriction to Fire Fist monsters is fine since they now have cards to play on the opponent’s turn with no problem. If a Fire Fist monster(s) you control would be destroyed by the opponent’s card effect, you can send a face-up Fire Formation Spell/Trap you control to the graveyard instead. Nice protection for your board of Fire Fist monsters you likely setup after summoning this and once again, it’s a free effect with Eagle and free protection is always great. Both effects are hard once per turns, which probably matters for the first effect far more to prevent you from comboing off, but from time to time you might feel this restriction for the protection effect if the opponent has multiple disruptive cards. Panda is the first great Level 5 Fire Fist monster and if it wasn’t for Eland, it’d be the only good Fire Fist beyond Level 4 that’s in the main deck. Panda is an easy three-of even though it’s searchable only because the play-making potential is very high with this card. Advanced Rating: 4.25/5 Art: 5/5 There’s cute Pandas and scary Pandas, and you knew good and well this Panda wasn’t going to be cute. |
Alex Searcy Looks like we aren’t done playing with fire yet, so Brotherhood of the Fire Fist week 2 kicks off with Panda. Panda is a Level 5 Monster, Fire type, still a Beast-Warrior with 2100 attack and 400 defense. Immediately, neither of those stats seem very worthy of a Level 5 Monster, but he can be Special Summoned rather easily by the Fire Fist player in tradition with the Theme. Activating a Fire Formation Magic or Trap (save the Damage Step) let’s you Special Summon Panda from your Hand. Then, you’re also able to Special Summon a theme Monster, this time from your Graveyard, other than Panda. It’s beautiful that doing as you do and playing a theme Magic/Trap card nets you one Special Summon, to in turn, net you another. Nothing not to like about that. As seems usual, afterward, you can’t Special Summon out of the theme, but I see no issue there. Lastly, this guy has protection attached, where if a theme Monster would be destroyed by your opponent’s card effect, you can send a them Magic/Trap (face-up) to the Graveyard instead. Both effects here are once per turn. This guy is just awesome. Helps spam the Field, has protection, all of a sudden 2100 attack isn’t so bad. Rating: 4.5/5 Art: 5/5 LOVE the giant Panda in the sky, as well as the background on the bottom half of this card. The armor on the warrior is good, and I like the sword (though from the art, I feel that might be a Shinai kendo stick). |
King of Lullaby Hello Pojo Fans, Fire Fists back again for more CoTD features this week, starting with Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Panda. Level 5 stands out in a Level 4-based strategy, but its Special Summon ability takes care of any negative. Once you Special Summon Panda, you get another Special Summon of one of your Fire Fists in the grave. Locked into Fire Fist monsters for the turn isn’t really a bad restriction now that they have even more Extra Deck targets. Protection for any Fire Fist monster at the cost of a Fire Formation spell/trap is a fantastic piece of protection the deck needed in some form, and now they’ve got it. Panda is a Fire Fist that will get another Fire Fist onto the field back from your grave to set up Extra Deck summons for the turn, a utility monster that will get the Extra Deck going. Had Panda been a Quick-Effect it would be an even better card. Advanced-4/5 Art-4/5 Until Next Time |
