[AUTO](RC): When this unit attacks a vanguard, if you have an «Aqua Force» vanguard, and if it is the first battle of that turn, this unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of that battle, and at the beginning of the close step of that battle, choose another of your «Aqua Force» rear-guards in the same column as this unit, and exchange positions with this unit. AzureWings

Hey everyone, Azure here, and its my 21st Birthday! Anywho, this week we seem to be covering key units from Aqua Force. For anyone who hasn't tried this clan, I highly recommend it, its a different style of thinking and requires different setups(For obvious) reasons to max out the potential they bring to the table. Today we have Storm Rider, Diamantes.

Diamantes has a relatively straight forward effect. When you attack first with it, it gains +2k power for that battle. As a rearguard in the Aqua Force, this is great, can hit most Vanguards and rearguards without a boost, and switches with the unit behind it creating more attacks to further reach the goal of 3rd and 4th attacks for your Vanguard.

However I do believe there is one obvious draw back. The 9000 power can be crushing if forced to ride and use it as your Vanguard. So be aware of the numbers you can of him.

All in All, I'm going to give this guy a 3/5. While yes he a great rearguard grade 3, between the 11k attacks and the switching. He's rather poor as the Vanguard and theres always the risk that you would have to ride him. Also, if you stand him for whatever reason, he doesnt gain his boost. So again, 3/5 for the Storm Rider, Diamantes.

What's up, you guys?! It's time for day 4 of Aqua Force week, and today, we have...

Storm Rider, Diamantes
Power: 9000
Grade 3
Clan: Aqua Force
Race: Aquaroid
[AUTO](RC):When this unit attacks a vanguard, if you have an «Aqua Force» vanguard, and if it is the first battle of that turn, this unit gets [Power]+2000 until end of that battle, and at the beginning of the close step of that battle, choose another of your «Aqua Force» rear-guards in the same column as this unit, and exchange positions with this unit. (The state of the card does not change.)

See, now THIS is what I'm talking about! Instead of sounding like a broken record and practically repeat what I said about Basil in here, let's talk about why I love this over Basil so much: Diamantes starts off the attacks at 11,000 and can swap spots with the unit behind it. That extra 1,000 in power allows the first attack to be just as threatening as the other attacks especially against an 11,000 Vanguard (basically, nothing that's Majesty Lord Blaster or a Crossride) unlike Basil which makes him fall shy by that same 1,000 power. Also, when you decide to swap, you normally would swap spots with Lazarus, Algos, Valeria, etc. Basically, either the 10,000 vanilla or anything that has an effect after a certain number of attacks.

The other thing that needs to be noted is that when he does move back to the backrow, it lets an interceptor up to guard during the opponent's turn AND it makes it so that the only things that can tag Diamantes while he's back there is Tejas, FUSHIMI (yes, it's spelt like that), Blaster Blade and anything else that can tag a backrow unit which is pretty minimal these days and all but solidifies that you will be attacking 4 times a turn while he's just relaxing safely in the back line. Basil, on the other hand, is a Grade 2, so that makes him much more of a target by Berserk Dragon and Dragonic Deathscythe just to name a couple off the top of my head.

In short, Diamantes is the eldest brother of the Storm Riders for a VERY good reason, and that's because he knows how the...*puts on sunglasses* eb and flow of battle works *cue CSI: Miami theme*!

Rating: 4.5/5 (Can't give it a solid 5 as if you are forced to ride into him, you practically are screwed. >.>)

Next time: ...I thought Iron Man was the one with the Proton Cannon...

Storm Rider Diamantes

Now we get into the more threatening of the storm riders. Diamantes is exactly like Basil, with the exception of being one grade higher, and 1k bigger. Like Basil, he attacks at a +2k bonus if attacking first, and is attacking the vanguard. The difference is that attacking at 11k can actually force a guard from the opponent much more often than just 10k. Because of this, Diamantes allows greater optimization of your attacks, forcing your opponent to take more damage or lose more cards by the time your vanguard is attacking. Throw in a stand trigger or two and you are potentially looking at a very quick endgame.

Diamantes serves much higher utility than Basil; not only with his higher attacking power, but the fact that he is grade 3 makes him searchable by Officer Cadet Erikk, who is the typical starter for Aqua Force decks.

Rating: 5/5 – Ideal storm rider after riding to grade 3.
